Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Nathaniel arched an eyebrow at the terms, but nodded nonetheless. "Sounds fair. I hope you plan to lose your heart tonight, Sora, and in more ways than one." He was referring to not only killing the Keyblade master, but also taking his love: Kairi.

Kairi's hands balled into small fists at her sides, hating to hear this kind of talk. But she knew there was no way out of it; the boys fought, and whoever won, she was to go with. She desperately hoped it was Sora who came out victorious, of course; going with Nathaniel sounded like a world of torture and darkness.

 

Sora furrowed his eyebrows, hearing Nathaniel's strong words. "Now let Kairi come over here," he said calmly, glaring at the Prince. "Unless you want her to be harmed in battle, which I doubt you do. She's safest over here, so that she's never backed into a corner." He was using real logic with Nathaniel, not trying anything deceitful. If Nathaniel truly believed he was leaving here with Kairi, then he wouldn't risk her getting injured in their fight.

 

Nathaniel's green eyes glared at Sora, and after a moment he moved his arm back to his side, his shield no longer blocking Kairi's path.

Kairi didn't hesitate once the shield was lowered. She moved forward immediately, going toward Sora. Her steps were quick and quiet, the redhead stopping slightly behind Sora once she reached him. She looked over his shoulder at the boy she had felt so strongly towards, but was only tricked into falling for. Kairi hoped he got what he deserved; nobody should have ever had to deal with such trickery, and she hoped nobody else would ever have to again.

 

Sora stared right back at Nathaniel the whole time that Kairi was walking over to him, making sure that he didn't try anything stupid. When he didn't, and Kairi made it over to him safely, he exhaled a soft breath of relief. But she wasn't clear of danger yet. He turned around halfway to look at her, both Kairi and Nathaniel in his sight. "Kairi, listen to me for a minute," he said calmly. As soon as she looked at him, then he would say what he needed to say.

 

Kairi's eyes fell on Sora immediately, and she couldn't speak or move once she she was gazing at him. It had been so long since she had seen him, and he was back in the same close proximity she had been with him just a few days ago. But now wasn't the time to wish that she could embrace him or anything; she was in danger. They both were.

 

Sora summoned his Keyblades away, bringing up his hands so that he could take off his black leather coat. It would be hard to have a fight wearing that, so that was why he was taking it off. "You see that corner over there?" he asked in a soft voice, pointing over in the direction that he had originally come from. "I want you to go over there and stay there until this is over. If the fight comes too close to you, then I want you to go into the neighboring room for a minute. But when you feel safe again, you need to come back in here." He glanced at Nathan at this point, his eyes turning a little harder at the sight of him. "I don't trust him; I want you in my sight as much as possible." He turned his gaze back to Kairi, seriousness and calmness in his bright blue eyes. "Do you understand?"

 

Kairi nodded wordlessly, eyes wide in fright and sadness. Two people she had learned to care for were fighting each other, over her. It was so bizarre, and it hurt. But she knew ultimately, despite the fact that she had been falling pretty hard for Nathaniel, that she wanted Sora to win the battle. Kairi registered every word he had said to her, and knew what she had to do.

 

Sora's eyes softened, seeing the fright in Kairi's eyes. "Hold onto this for me," he said softly, holding out his jacket for Kairi to take. "You can give it back to me when this fight is over." Just by that last sentence, he was assuring Kairi that he wasn't going to allow Nathaniel to take her away. He would come out of this as the victor, and Kairi would be free to live her life away from that wicked Prince.

 

Kairi lifted a hand and took the leather jacket from Sora's grasp, her eyes moving from it to him. She felt that she should at least say something, but she couldn't come up with anything. Instead, she simply looked at him for a moment, her eyes then moving past him to Nathaniel. Kairi's sadness deepened at the sight of him, and she started to retreat right away. The girl heard her footsteps echo off the empty walls as she ran to the corner Sora had pointed to, the room clear enough for her to see where she was going now.

 

Sora looked away from Kairi when she ran off, facing towards Nathaniel. Any gentleness that he had shown Kairi vanished at the sight of the horrible boy who broke Kairi's heart. His Keyblades reappeared in his grasp, though Sora didn't stand in a battle stance. He had something to say, first.

 

Nathaniel's green eyes watched Kairi run off, but then he felt a piercing gaze on him. He knew who it was even before he turned his sight to him. He looked at Sora evenly, glancing down at the legendary weapons in the guy's hands. Nathaniel tightened his grasp on his sword and held his shield closer to him. He was going to fight for his life, because that not only meant victory, but also that he would be able to rule his kingdom with a Princess of Heart a his side, and possibly the worlds.

 

Sora stared at Nathaniel, his eyes showing his readiness for battle. "It's my duty as a Keyblade Master to protect the Princess of Heart," he informed his foe, the teen still standing in a relaxed pose as he glared at the prince. "However, I don't care about duty. You broke her heart, and I'm going to make you pay for that. Nobody gets away with hurting her!"

 

Kairi turned around, Sora's angered voice reaching her just as she got to the corner. She backed up against the wall, things still a little foggy from the smoke, but she could still see both boys clearly. She didn't want to watch, but she knew she had to in case things got too dangerous for her. Of course, Kairi already knew things were very dangerous for her, the girl at risk to being swept off this world and carried away to another if Sora lost. But he wouldn't... He couldn't...

Nathaniel only stood still, ready for battle. "Then you're going to pay as well; I'm not the only one who hurt Kairi, now am I?" he said to Sora, arching an eyebrow at the angry teen. Of course, that had been his doing, but it was all said and done now. All that was left to do was beat this fool and take the Princess with him, forever.

 

"I'm willing to accept the consequences of leaving her," Sora said with a nod. "But that won't stop me from defeating you." He tightened his grip on Oathkeeper without thought, his gaze hard as he glared at Nathaniel. "...I've hurt her; I know that. But now it's time I set things right!" He would kill the person who forced all this hardship upon them, and he would do everything he could to bring peace of mind to Kairi's mind. It was his duty as a lover, not as a Keyblade wielder, to do that.

 

Kairi clutched Sora's jacket to her chest as she looked at him and Nathaniel. Sora's words affected her heart, triggering her thoughts. Both boys--were they fighting for her heart, or was only one? She felt herself grow even more upset, the girl lowering her eyes to the ground and waiting anxiously for the fight that was going to change everything.

Nathaniel smirked pridefully at Sora, setting one foot in front of the other. He brought his shield closer to his chest and held out his sword. Now it was time to fight.

 

Sora shut his eyes for a second, taking in one last breath. Here we go, he thought, opening his eyes as he suddenly got into a battle stance. He ground his teeth together and charged forward towards Nathaniel, ready to get this fight done and over with.

 

Nathaniel's grip tightened on his sword, the boy waiting for Sora to reach him. His mind raced over all the training he had done back home, just in case his Royal Guard failed to protect him. That had been so, which meant now was his turn to bring glory to his kingdom.

 

Sora noticed that Nathaniel was still close to a wall, and he decided to use that wall to his advantage. At the last moment, Sora leaped over the Prince by doing a flip, his feet coming in contact with the wall behind him. He then propelled himself toward the boy's unprotected back, Keyblades ready to deal a massive blow. The attack was much like the one he used on Riku when he was trying to prove himself in Agrabah four months ago, and he thought it would work out well right now.

 

Nathaniel blinked in surprise when Sora disappeared, but he knew exactly what was going on. He started to turn around, but knew it was too late.

 

Sora felt his Keyblades impact Nathaniel's side, and he grunted at the force he had put into his own attack. He did a front-flip over Nathaniel and then landed safely on his feet, turning his head to look over his shoulder at the Prince.
