Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas chuckled at Namine's words. "Can't have that," he said, grinning. Seriously, Namine's family had really good food. If he got banned from the fridge, he would be deprived from delicious ice cream, cookies, and soda. That would be a sad day for Roxas.

 

Namine laughed softly, shaking her head. "Then again, that would mean there's more sweets for me..." She looked up at the ceiling, contemplating. "Maybe I could work something out so I could enjoy more of my own food," she said, sending a wink over at Roxas. Of course, she said all this in good nature; she really didn't care about how much food Roxas ate at her house.

 

Roxas's smile transformed into a smirk again, the boy giving Namine a look. "Yeah, yeah. How about we start with the spaghetti, huh?" He motioned to his plate still sitting in front of him, the pasta still warm despite their conversation. He was starving after his busy day, and he was sure she was as well.

 

Namine smiled and gave Roxas a silent nod, picking up her fork. She really was hungry after shopping with Kairi, so that spaghetti was looking really good to her. She twirled some around her fork and began to eat, relieved that the food was fulfilling her hunger.

 

Roxas was actually surprised when he didn't have any more spaghetti in front of him, having eaten it all pretty quickly. He sipped at his water and leaned back in his chair, exhaling a soft breath. He actually hadn't done that bad of a job; the pasta was pretty filling.

 

Namine finished her meal around the same time as Roxas did, finishing off the piece of garlic bread that had been sitting on the corner of the plate. Roxas had done an excellent job with the meal, and she would let him know that. "That was delicious, Roxas," she complimented with a gentle smile, her sky blue eyes landing on the boy across from her.

 

"Thanks," Roxas said, smiling. He had to admit himself that it was pretty good. But there was still something he needed to know. "Have I redeemed myself from my ham incident?" He arched an eyebrow, his smile softening. He actually had a lot of redemption to gain, and not just from dinner. Everything lately had been his fault, and one of the most fatal things was Jeff. Roxas wanted to not only make up for everything that had occurred because of himself, but he also wanted to help Namine recover from things that happened about a month ago.

 

Namine chuckled softly, looking up at the ceiling. "I dunno..." she said, trailing off as if she were in doubt. "I'll have to check the smoke detectors later to see if you're hiding anything from me," she said jokingly, a smile on her lips. In reality, though, she did approve of Roxas' dinner, and she believed it made up for his accident with the ham.

 

Roxas rolled his eyes and shook his head, but he had a smile on his face regardless. His gaze locked on the girl opposite him and lingered there, his eyes on hers. He could tell that despite her loving taunts, she really did appreciate the dinner. That was enough for him, but he still had something else to do for her.

 

Namine's smile softened, and she shook her head a little bit, as if to chase off her playful comment. "In all seriousness, I think you made up for the ham incident." She had never thought much of it in the first place, anyway; she hardly ever brought it up. Sora, on the other hand, he brought it up whenever he saw Roxas doing something in a kitchen.

 

"Great," Roxas said sincerely, nodding. "I was hoping you would enjoy the dinner." He kept his eyes on Namine, gazing at her for a moment. He then pushed his chair back and stood, making his way around the table and to her chair. He then held out his hand. "But I have something else for you," Roxas finished, his blue eyes locked onto Namine's.

 

Namine arched a brow in surprise, lifting a hand and setting in Roxas' as she registered his words. "Something else?" she repeated, tilting her head to the side slightly. She had no idea else he could do in one night; the candlelight dinner had already taken a lot of time and effort, so what else did he have in mind?

 

"That's right," Roxas answered, his fingers wrapping around Namine's. "Come with me and you'll see." His voice was gentle as he smiled, hoping she would love the next part to their date just as much as the meal.

 

Namine shook her head softly in disbelief, a small smile on her lips. "You're just full of surprises tonight, aren't you?" she asked lightly, rising to her feet as she gazed at the boy holding her hand. Really, she was quite curious as to what would happen next, but she trusted Roxas, so she wasn't worried or uneasy.

 

Roxas chuckled. "You should know that I have my moments," he told Namine, gazing at her before turning around and beginning to lead her out of the dining room. It was time to head to the den.

 

"That you do," Namine said in agreement, holding onto Roxas' hand as she allowed him to take the lead. She laughed softly, a thought coming into her head. "It's amazing how many times I tell you I don't like surprises, and then you set them up and pull them off without me getting mad," she said, realizing just how special Roxas was to be able to do that.

 

Roxas glanced over his shoulder as they walked through the dining room doorway, eyes briefly finding Namine. "You know, you're right," he agreed, sight falling forward again. "Heh, I either have really good luck or you must really like me." His voice held amusement, but also gentleness as he turned his head to look at her as they walked through the kitchen. Despite his words, Roxas knew it was more than that. Somehow.

 

Namine smiled softly, catching onto Roxas' words. "I'd say it's more of the second one," she said quietly. Although it was true Roxas had good luck, she put up with his surprises because she loved him. And they weren't any problem, anyway; she always ended up enjoying whatever secret plans Roxas had in mind whenever he set up things like this.

 

Roxas's smile spread as he turned his head to face forward again, glancing at Ty as he napped by his now-empty bowl. "I was hoping you would pick that one," he admitted, squeezing Namine's hand as he led her toward their new destination. Good luck was cool, but he appreciated that she was confident in her feelings for him.

 

Namine noticed Ty napping as she and Roxas walked by, though she noticed Roxas' gentle voice and gesture more than anything else. "Well, of course," she said softly, a small smile on her lips. "Luck just doesn't cut it with surprises, you know." If she didn't trust somebody completely, then she would have been uneasy about a surprise, even if it turned out well. Roxas, though, had her full trust, and it showed.
