Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Kairi shrugged, though there was a smile on her lips. Roxas tried, and as funny as it was, he failed. She was sure that if Sora had done the same thing, she would've found it hard to turn down a face like that. But the boys had to make up for devouring all of those brownies somehow.

 

Namine shook her head softly, a smile on her lips. "They're too cute sometimes," she said, thinking over their goofiness. She especially had a soft-spot for Roxas, since he was her boyfriend, but Sora was adorable as well.

 

Kairi nodded in agreement, her smile softening as she looked to the doorway where the two disappeared. "Our boys are pretty goofy," she said. Of course, they were both cute, but she believed Sora was especially adorable. She knew it was the same for Namine, but with Roxas. It was different because of who they loved more, but every relationship was pretty strong, with enough room for silly behavior.

 

"That they are," Namine said in agreement, her eyes on Kairi. After a second, though, she turned to the side, seeing the couch that she had been sitting on before. She headed over and sat back down, hiding the small amount of dizziness that she felt.

 

Kairi felt her smile soften as she drew her legs up on the couch, turning and leaning her back against the arm of the furniture now that she had room. She looked over at Namine with content eyes. "You and Roxas seem to be doing well," she said, remembering the last time she had seen them before today things seemed unsteady.

 

Namine nodded slightly, her smile softening at the deeper topic. "Yeah, we are," she said, lifting her eyes to Kairi and leaving Ty alone. Roxas had been working really hard to make things better between them, and now Namine truly felt as if their problems of the past were behind them.

 

"That's good," Kairi replied quietly, offering Namine a small smile before turning her gaze to her hands resting against her drawn-up legs. She gazed at the jean fabric for a moment, thinking it was great that her two blonde friends were finally finding peace after all they had gone through. They deserved it.

 

"How about you and Sora?" Namine asked, a soft smile on her lips as she looked at her best friend. "You guys seem to be doing pretty well." After everything that had happened, it was actually pretty surprising to see them that comfortable around each other again. At the same time, though, they always had a natural connection, and she supposed that the connection had never really been lost.

 

Kairi nodded slightly, her eyes lingering on her pants before she looked up to meet Namine's gaze. "We're good," she admitted softly. Things were still kind of...different between them, if she could call it that. But they were doing pretty well for what all happened between them.

 

Namine smiled softly, tilting her head slightly as she looked at Kairi. "It's good to see you two together again," she said, matching Kairi's vocal volume. Sora and Kairi were meant to be together, as far as Namine was concerned, and she was so glad that Fate had brought them together again.

 

Kairi smiled faintly, silently agreeing with her best friend. Things had been hard without Sora, even with Nathaniel around. Thankfully he came back to her, and at the time when he did. "I missed him," Kairi told Namine, remembering how hard the first few weeks had been. Of course, she never stopped missing him, even if she refused to think about him.

 

Namine smiled gently, knowing how much that was true. Kairi had missed him so much, that she had felt the need to replace him with somebody else to fill the void. But Namine wasn't about to bring that up; that would have been stupid.

 

"It was hard to think about him, you know?" Kairi said, her eyes leaving Namine and finding her jeans again. "It hurt to." Because he was gone, and I didn't know when or if he would be back. Waiting a year had been hard for her, even if she had forgotten Sora for a while. But she didn't like to think about that either. Every time he went away, it was difficult for her, but she managed to push through every time.

 

"Mmhmm," Namine hummed, keeping her soft blue eyes on her best friend. She knew how Kairi felt, because in a lot of ways, Namine had felt the same. But there was a bond between Sora and Kairi that not even Roxas and Namine could imagine, so that made things different when it came to Namine and her best friend. From what she could gather, though, the two of them could no longer communicate through their hearts. Their relationship wasn't unscathed by the four months of being separated.

 

Kairi had been so worried about him, and inside, she still was. Sora could still be goofy; today clearly showed that. But there was just something she felt was missing from him, and she wasn't sure what it was. She didn't want to ask, knowing that the conversation would either take a turn for the worst or move to the mission, which wasn't really a difference. Kairi promised not to speak of the mission, and was afraid to ask how Riku was doing because of that oath. She was curious as to how he was holding up as well, after the last four months.

 

"You two are strong, though," Namine said softly, glancing down at her jeans before she looked at Kairi again. "You always manage to make it through whatever life throws at you." They knew that things were hard, but they always kept looking forward, with their chins up.

 

Kairi looked up at Namine, smiling weakly. "You and Roxas are the same way," she pointed out softly. It was ironic, since Roxas and Namine were part of Sora and Kairi. But then again, it was kind of expected. They were different in some ways, but similar in others, much like their relationships.

 

Namine smiled weakly, both in response to Kairi's smile and the words she spoke. "We try," she said softly, looking down at her jeans in thought. They had been through a lot, whether they were together or apart. Thinking over everything, it was incredible that they hadn't crumbled or fallen apart from each other at any point. They had a few rough instances, but she didn't think they ever gave up on each other completely.

 

"It's normal to have problems every once in a while," Kairi said, both to herself and to Namine. She kept forgetting that, but she guessed that was common. Whenever the problems actually occurred, it hurt inside, but everybody went throught it eventually. And problems could be solved; all that was needed was faith.

 

"Yeah," Namine said softly, a new thought coming to her mind. She lifted her head, looking at her best friend as she said her thoughts. "And even if things are bad, we can depend on our goofballs to make things more lighthearted," she said with a smile, knowing how the boys often made things lighter with their humorous jokes and actions.
