In XenForo 1.2, the Notable Members page is used instead of the Registered Members page. However, the Registered Members page is still available, it just needs to be enabled. Admin CP > Options > User Options > Enable Member List Personally, even with the addition of a Notable Members page, I still find a member list that lists all members quite useful, and one of the reasons is that it shows the newest members. Thoughts?
Notable Members is far less resource intensive. I greatly prefer it to the standard member list, which has a lot of information that no one needs. If a number of people prefer the standard one over notable members I don't mind switching it, but for a large board like ours, it's a lot smarter to use notable members.
To be honest I prefer the notable members page. Not to be rude but I don't really care to scroll through a bunch of regs to find the active members. There are quite a few accounts that aren't even active (have seen activity). Notable members makes the people to know easier to find. -Shiranui
Oh, by the way, it doesn't switch it, it just enables it along with the Notable Members page (example). :)
Could we just enable it in addition to Notable Members like Amaury suggested? It won't change my life if we don't, but I think it's a nice little piece of the site to keep.
Am I the only one whose "Notable Members" stop at the top 20 posters? I mean that's rad in all, but is there a way to make that continue like it used to? I'd like to, on occasion, see how far away I'm on the list just for kicks and giggles.
I believe so, but on a large board like ours the member list is unnecessary bloat in terms of performance. It takes way more server resources than the notable members page for little payoff, considering there's not much you can do on that page that you can't on the notable members page. that's as designed. I can see if we can paginate it.
I noticed it is impossible to search or view the full member list. The closest I can come to searching for members is typing a name into the 'Posted by member:' field, which only displays a handful of members. Is it possible to add these without being too intensive?
There is an option to enable it, but it unfortunately would be too intensive because of the amount of members we have.
It's a problem with vB as well -- for a board the size of ours, it does not make sense to expend system resources to display a member list that is largely filled with inactive accounts. A full member search may be added in the future (there's an add-on that I was interested in for different reasons), but we'll be keeping notable members.
