The latter being the Silence? Coz in s5 when River was trapped in the TARDIS a voice was heard repeatedly saying 'silence will fall', so it's connected.

Fair point. Also, does everyone remember in The God Complex where the Doctor looks into his room and just says, "Who else" or some such? Well, I just came across the most perfect explanation.

Now that I think about it, makes perfect sense.

The God Complex is probably my favorite Smith-era episode and I've seen this around, it is a good explanation, but I've always preferred how Matt Smith himself interpreted the scene:

John Hurt could definitely be involved in that, but I think the Doctor's self-loathing extends past even Hurt. Again, unfamiliar with Classic Who, but in New Who he's certainly been through ****--Doomsday, causing such ruin in Martha's life, DONNA, how he's gotten Amy to so fanatically follow him, losing River to the SIlence, the Time War, the decisions he's had to make, his (occasional) unbridled anger--he's "an ancient creature drenched in the blood of the innocents. It all coalesces to create this paradox (not in the time travel sense, ha) of feeling as though you ruin people so should avoid them, but you don't want to be alone, because you know that you can do far worse on your own. He hates himself for needing people because they experience such tragedy in the process.

And like I said, John Hurt can definitely (and beautifully!) be included in that, depending on what it is he's done. But I don't like to believe that, aside from John Hurt's actions, he's a-okay with everything he's done "in the name of the Doctor."

The God Complex is one of my absolute favorite Smith episodes and that is a surprisingly perfect assumption. It's a bit graphic for Who mind you, but it would actually work really well (especially given his struggle throughout A Town Called Mercy; you can tell everything still eats away at him).
Even in Name of the Doctor, he regrets his need for companions -- just look at where it put Clara and River. Sure Vastra talks about all the worlds in the sky that wouldn't be there without him, but all he sees are the lives he's either ended or ruined on his travels. Even his name for the cracks from his timeline -- "the tracks of my tears" -- reminds us that all he remembers is the loss, the sacrifice, and the pain. I mean, lord knows what he did as Hurt's "Doctor," but he, as the Doctor, has made his own mistakes and destroyed his own hopes for happiness.

And yet, he's made so many good memories, despite the tragedy and sadness he's suffered and caused along the way. Rose might've ended up in another universe, but she's with her own Doctor; Martha might not have found love in Ten, or even really escaped the role of "soldier," but she found Mickey through him and through UNIT; Donna might not remember some of the best moments of her life, but she can make new moments with a sweet husband; Amy and Rory might not have had the perfect marriage (or parenthood), but they're only together in the first place because of him. I'm not saying that Eleven (or any Doctor, really) blames everything on a single incarnation, but what Hurt did appeared to have a huge impact on him, the Doctor, who, above all, values the happiness of the people he cares about. It's just as Eleven said in Vincent and the Doctor, "Life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things but vice versa, the bad things don't always spoil the good things."

I found this on Youtube thinking it was a hoax, BUT AN OFFICIAL TRAILER FOR THE 50TH HAS BEEN RELEASED IN 3D. You can either turn off the 3D altogether, or you can break out a pair of the red/cyan glasses and watch Ten as only Ten would.

I really do hope this gets a theatrical release worldwide, because watching something so glorious on standard definition BBC America wouldn't feel right.

It's a fanmade trailer, incredibly. I think he has another video going in to some of the effects he used to create it.

Yes guys, that's a fanmade trailer. It looks awesome, but in the end, it's still fake. We're going to have to wait some time for the real one unfortunately.

So if any of you didn't know there was an event called Doctor Who at the Proms on saturday (and sunday morning) which was basically a concert that played a lot of music from the show both old and new. It was held at the Royal Albert hall as part of the "BBC at the Proms" and had various special guests.

I was fortunate to go to this and absolutely loved it! I had many pleasant surprises and can't wait to see it again as it's broadcast in the Autumn as part of the anniversary celebration (I think...)

Anyway, I didn't get many pictures myself as I was just watching it and didn't want to get distracted. There were a lot of people dressed up, many fezzes and bowties! I went in a dress though xD I wish I'd known.

There were a few videos posted on youtube from the occasion which I thought I'd share with you all, including the world premier of Murray Gold's piece dedicated to the 50th anniversary (like a birthday song).

Also, I don't know if the link works in other countries but if you are in Britain then you should be able to listen to the whole thing (until 20th July) as it was broadast on the radio here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b036ts7t/BBC_Proms_2013_Prom_02_Doctor_Who_Prom/
If you can't listen to it there or it's past 20th July (hi future : D) then this person has uploaded all the songs onto their youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/WhoniverseMusic

Videos (if I have missed any then post them yourself ^^):
    Start of the 'Classic medley'

    Doctor Who theme tune:

Excerpt from 'I am the Doctor'

Matt and Jenna's appearance (there was a video beforehand that was basically the Doctor and Jenna trying to get into the Albert hall using a body swap ticket and I don't know if it's online yet):

I would also like to say that I did wait outside the stage door both times and didn't get to see any of the cast but I did get to meet Nick Briggs, Murray Gold and Ben Foster (the conductor who is now a friggin legend in my eyes because he faced the roaring crowds of Who fans both shows and was there like forever). I am sad I didn't get to meet Peter Davison, Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, Dan Starkey (Strax), Neve McIntosh (Vastra) or Carole Anne Ford (Susan) but there is always another time. I also discovered that I am not as crazy a who fan as other people, there were people there with bags of action figures still in their packaging ready to get them signed and I was hearing their stories about meeting other famous people and people had come from America and Germany with their stacks of Doctor Who paraphernalia including oen woman carrying a huge board with the TARDIS on it that seemed to be covered with signatures...

I have heard some of the tracks from DW at the Proms. There were some that were really great. But I was a bit disappointed that some of the tracks during the revival's earlier years were left out.[DOUBLEPOST=1373923237][/DOUBLEPOST]Here were my favorites:

I absolutely adored the Akhaten one! I thought the music in that episode was beautiful and am so glad they included it. My absolute favourite part was when they played the theme tune as that was just amazing to listen to live and it wasn't credited in the running order of things so wasn't expecting it which was nice. They also played the tune that the oods sing as Ten is dying which was very nice as well.

-Did Moffat just hint at a Capt. Jack appearance?
-No decision yet on who will replace Matt Smith
