    I used to try this.
But it never worked for me.
I would just end up reading for a few hours
    realize it's even later before
and try to go to sleep.
But no book (except one I had to read in class) has ever helped me sleep.

Funny, I never sleep. I have Insomnia, (Can't or rarely sleep) and I used to read every night until 2:00 in the morning. Normally I would read more than new books. I used to end up re-reading a book or two.

I usually read or listen to music before falling asleep. Sometimes both. They both calm my mind, and for me it helps slow down and ease my thoughts so that I can sleep easier. Any good novel works fine, save like Stephen King and the likes. Those books don't really put your mind at ease. o.o

When I like the book and just can't put it down I end up not being able to fall asleep. I'll pull out the book, read it for a few hours, and end up falling asleep right after marking the page I was on. If I can't sleep I may listen to music or I'll start to re-read a series I like.

Books don't work for me, I've tried time and again, but they just don't help, (I do it anyways though, good time passer) So there is my deal with sleep and books.

I tried a few times and it didn't seem to work for me since I would usually get to interested in the book and not noticed how much time would pass by. But now, I usually just listen to some chilling music such as ambient or trip hop and it helps me relax and go to sleep.

I always read before going to sleep. For some reason I get really tierd when I read at least 10 chapters of the book.

Doees it count if I'm reading a book and then out of nowhere fall asleep and walk up hours later? Because that always used to happen to me but now I fall asleep with my laptop instead of books... I need to go back to books.

I used to do it, but I've since stopped. I've realised that there are two possible outcomes: Either I fall asleep, or I don't. If I fall asleep, then I forget what happened in the book and I lose my place. If I don't, then I'm not falling asleep, so clearly the book isn't helping.

    It's a lose/lose situation.

Reading always keeps me up far longer than anything else would, actually. I am easily entertained, and have almost never fallen asleep while reading.

I used to read, too. But not to make myself fall asleep. It just happens to be before I go to sleep. XD /fail.

The only time this worked was yesterday. I was reading a book while waiting for my turn to be called for the doctor, and, well, I ended up passing out on the bench outside for an hour. XDD

    Fun times...

I sometimes fall asleep while I read, but mostly I write in a journal or something. Like side notes or stories and that will really do it. But one book that has always put me to sleep is Seeds of Love: The success I did not make. It seems so dull at night lol.

I usually re-read old books, but read new books if I have new books. I usually end up thinking "Oh I'm just gonna read for a few minutes" at 12, and after what felt like an hour of reading it was 3AM. Happens a lot.
