Actually now it's official (checkout the newspost about the translation of the interview), the ES' name is Terra.

 

What? Ewww! I can't beleive they'd do that. What about Terra from ff6? That is a very femine name. sigh, but it does mean Earth. I guess I'll get used to it...

 

Yeah I know, it sounds weird to me too...it makes think about DC Comics' Terra...It's too bad, I came to love the name Larry.

 

... wow. So now he has a name. And it's Terra. Feminine, yes. Masculine, definitely. I mean, terra is basically tierra with means earth.

... but what about Riku? So far all the names match up. Ven, Sora; Kairi, Aqua... Terra, ???.

Did Riku's name mean earth? It's early, I forgot if it did.

luulz. The name sort of reminds me of Teen Titans. Terra the blonde girl with unstable and literal earth-moving powers.

 

That's the one I'm talking about...weird...maybe our dear Larry/Terra will betray Aqua and Ven like Terra betrayed the Titans and like Riku betrayed Sora and Kairi...

And yes, Riku means land.

When you're working in 3D environments, computing can take a long freaking time. There's something called "referencing" where you can use the same geometry over and over. It frees up a little computing time.

I think Roxas and Axel are nonsense, based solely on their Somebody's name. Namine is definitely Japanese and it means...something. Blubbery! I can't remember!

Kanji, it looks like your prediction that Riku, Sora and Kairi will parallel the knights is one step closer to being real.

I want to keep calling him Larry. I'm kind of sad that couldn't be his real name...

 

That thing about the different keyblades is quite interesting...imagine Cloud, Leon and Captain Sparrow getting keyblades during the war...how sweet would that be ?

There definitely is a link between the knights and the Destiny Islands friends, the names confirm it.

Naminé contains the word "nami", which means "wave", that's how she's connected to Kairi (which is related to "sea"). As for Roxas and Axel, I doubt there's any special meaning there, sorry.

 

A few thoughts, based on the latest interview. My comments are complete speculation, with little to no grounding.

-In KHII FM's additional event "To Put an End to Everything", Sora says "It should have been easy to say thanks to Namine, but I couldn't say it". At this point in time, does Sora remember the things that happened with Namine?

Nomura: If he remembers, it's because Namine's existence was made possible by Sora, and when Namine and Roxas return to Kairi and Sora, many things were connected. Since Sora never got to say thanks to Namine, please think of that as a hint.

We know that Namine wouldn't have existed without Sora. Had Kairi's heart not gone into Sora, it's possible she may not have had a Nobody at all (if you even want to call Namine a Nobody *nods to RikuNotRikku*). When Nomura says "many things were connected" I beleive that an additional connection was made between Kairi and Sora. And I speculate this connection may have an impact should someone try to take their hearts or bodies (think of the Baldy/Terra/Xehanort situation) in the future.


-In the additional event "Farwell to a Friend", there's a scene where Axel tells Roxas "You really do have a heart, don't you". What is the actual case here?

Nomura: In this scene, it ends bringing up more mysteries about Roxas, so for the answer, maybe take care to follow your hunches well, it's also related to Xehanort's memories, but I can't give any specifics now.

How could Roxas' having a heart be related to Xehanort's memories? A tenuous connection could be made by saying that Roxas is connected to Ven, Xehanort is connected to Terra, and something about Ven, Terra, and Aqua has to do with having attributes outside of normal Nobodies.

This would be assuming that is someway Roxas and Ven are the same person, just as Roxas and Sora are the same person. It wouldn't work if all they share is paralleling destinies.

I acknowledge that Roxas's having a heart could be linked to his joining with Sora, but Nomura's comments that this in linked to Xehanort's memories makes me beleive that it goes further.

I also found it wierd that he said that roxas' having a heart has to do with Xehanort's memories. It could be something not directy related, like Roxas is related to Ven, who is related to Xehanorts memories, like you said.

 

One of the things I've just mocked up in my spare time is this lil thing right here:

Sora - Roxas - Ven
Kairi - Namine - Aqua
Riku - Axel - Terra
Tidus - Hayner
Wakka - Pence
Selphie - Ollette

Not much to say here, but it just goes to show that there are many parralels between Sora and Roxas's lives. It might prove that Sora and Roxas have a lot more in common than they think. Anywayz, I just wanted to put it up here to help some people. I'm using it partially for one of my theories, but feel free to use it if you want.

 

I don't think you can really compare Riku and Axel : they're two completely different characters. I know the have the role of best friend in common, but I think their differences are important : it's one of the things that distinguishes Roxas from Sora, and makes him an independent being, his own man, with his personality, his existence and maybe even his heart.

 

I can understand that, and I only did this to imply the importance that Axel had to Roxas (and vice versa) and the importance that Riku had to Sora (and vice versa again). I don't think there's any physical or (dare I say it?) spiritual comparance in there anywhere besides the friendship factor. I agree with you that Roxas and Sora are still independent to the other, but their lives do have parallels that you can't miss, like the ones I used.

 

The bald one is Xehanort (I dunno why he's old in the Secret Ending and young when Ansem finds him)

The three chasers are ancestors of Kairi (Girl), Riku (Big One) and Sora (Roxas guy).

Plus it looks like the Kairi Chaser has the princess of hearts Keyblade that "Ansem" used when he possesed Riku and fought Sora in Kingdom Hearts.

We don't know if Baldy's Xehanort... Besides, you said it yourself: It wouldn't make sense for him to be old then and then young now.

And nope. I believe Nomura said that these are all new characters. "Kairi Girl's" name is Aqua, Sora-looky is actually named Ven, and Larry(aka: Big One) is Terra.

As for that princess of hearts Keyblade? :/... Really?? I don't remember seeing that... A picture proof would be cool if you have it laying around.

 

We had a render of Aqua in a newspost not long ago, with her keyblade. And it didn't strike me as similar to Riku's fake keyblade in KH1...besides, it wouldn't make much sense, Riku made it with the hearts of the Princesses, and it's quasi-certain now the secret ending happens in the past.

 

Am I the only one who's noticed that if you pause it at exactly the right moment before Mickey comes on the screen, you see Sora right where he is standing before he appears?

 

Probably... that's wierd... I should check that out...
