    Agreed in every way. The noise Skype makes when making a call to someone is just ear grating.

    I FOUND A WAY TO CONTINUE USING WLM 2009!

    Go into your program files, then your Windows Live folder. Look for 'msnmsgr.exe', right click > properties > compatibility > set it to run in Windows XP (Service Pack 3).

    What he means is, uninstall the messenger and reinstall it. Change the compatibility before opening it and being forced to upgrade.

    In case you tried to change the permissions after you already upgraded.

    It did that to me too but I'm not sure what the difference is. Looking at what it was updating as it did it, it seemed to be more of an update for movie maker and the other windows apps as opposed to Messenger.

    I echo the Pidgin business, it is lovely~

    I'm really just not a fan of Skype's UI is what it comes down to. I like having my chat windows with my separate contact list. Call me old school but yeah. I feel like Skype wastes a lot of space and the ads are completely unwelcome...

    Oh, well it made me do it now, whatever, just hit compact view mode and it looks just like the old MSN.
