Demons and Heroes

Twilight stumbled a little, stunned. "Well...yeah!" She smiled genuinly. "You...want to stay with me after all this?"

 

"Of course, if you want to be stuck with me. I suppose I was only fooling myself that an angel like you would even look twice at a lowly sinner like me. Forgive me my dreams and you must do what you want in life. You are as free as the wind, and I for one have no wish to tie you to a life that you do not wish for yourself."

 

"No! Of course not! I want to stay with you forever!" She put out her wrists as if to say snap on the handcuffs. "Looks like your stuck with me."

 

"I will never shackle you. You are free to come and go as you choose. I would never force anyone I love to do that which is against their will. I never did...I have always believed in free spirit."

 

"Well out of my free spirit, I won't be going anywhere." She made a face. "But let me warn you, I can't cook."

 

Gharanth laughed. "Then let me do that for you. I would never expect you to be able to. I am not that sexist! I will cook and care for you and you can cose whatever you want to do."

 

Twilight couldn't help but smile. It was like something taken out of a fairy tale with Gharanth as her perfect prince. Although she wasn't much of a princess in her own eyes. Everything seemed too good to be true at the moment and she wondered if maybe she was dreaming. If she was, she never wanted to wake up.

 

Gharanth smiled and walked at a reasonable pace. He had long since stopped hiding his true form and his tail was wrapped around his waist. "You must think that I am strange, like a pet dog."

 

She knocked him in the head.
"You've got your WHOLE life," she said

 

"Oh certainly not, Gharanth. A pet dog isn't nearly as talkative as you are." She smiled cheerfully, taking his hand tightly. "And also not as handsom."

"so ive got nothing left ryoko's dead, im losing control of my body, i just want it over with"

 

"Am I really that bad? I'm sorry." Gharanth hung his head. "I guess I do ramble on. I've been on my own so long that it's nice to have someone to talk to."

 

Twilight shook her head. "Oh of course not Gharanth. There is nothing in the world i like more than hearing your voice." She looked up at him. "Honestly."

 

"I am glad that I don't drive you mad with my babble. I would hate to think that you are only putting up with me through duty."

 

"Duty? Of course not! You think it's just duty keeping me here with you?" She squeezed his hand as they walked.

 

"Well I'm not exactly a prize catch. I hope that I can give you everything you want and deserve in life." Gharanth squeezed her hand as they walked and smiled at her.

 

"Of course you can, Gharanth. You have already given me so much." She stepped over a log, never letting Gharanth's hand go.

 

"I will always be here with you. You need never worry about being alone again."

Twilight heard the sincerity in Gharanth's voice and her heart swelled. "I know, Gharanth." She smiled.

Gharanth felt a warm glow in his heart. It was as if all the weight of his past had dissolved into the warmth of the sun. Never again would he feel that he was responsible for all the evils in the world. Twilight was his salvation, she would probably never realise that she really had saved him.
