RNN was grabbed and taken to the Shinigami's house to be interrogated. However, she screwed up all the Permissions on his Death Note, so he spent a good portion of his day trying to fix that, before he copied everything over from a backup he made a few months ago. Even now, he is still trying to restore everything.

There is another Kira on the loose, yes. In the meantime, Mako tsunamiis found comatose in a cave, a stockpile of food beside him. He was apparently hibernating through the summer. That would also explain the unused Death Note on top of a pile of cans of sardines.
