There has been a confirmation of an upcoming "Deadpool", movie.
But wait,
We have to wait until....

2011? Wow that's quite some time.
Deadpool is an awesome character.
This excites me a lot.
I was kind of confused on what they would do, make it after or before Origins,
but:

So I'm guessing it'll be after.
One of the keywords was "breaking the fourth wall."
So hopefully he'll keep his trademark quality in the movie somehow

 

Wow. the year I graduate. Maybe I'll go see it then.

 

If it's just recently that this movie's been confirmed, then it is pretty much expected that it be released in 2011.

Still. That's pretty kickass.

I don't know about that.
According to the quote I posted earlier, it seems like it'd take place after Origins.
His body rejects the mutant implants so he'd be back to normal, albeit horribly disfigured and of course, some side effects.
Besides, since the Marvel comics are all in the same universe, the movies would be the same.
They even have the same actor who played Wade Wilson in Origins playing him.

Nah, In my opinion it will be connected with X-Men Origins.
I actually gained the theory that it could possibly be a trend of it.
Like you know how X-Men Origins was based off of Wolverine's life story?
Well, this could be a trend, basing it off of Deadpool's life story...or something.

 

Yeah, I think it'll be something like this. Even if it's in another time, past or present, it'll somehow have something to do with Origins.
The Incredible Hulk was a reboot of Hulk, if I'm right.
Different actors, different time, but it still used the foundation of the first movie

 

Ugh, that seems like such a long time, but I suppose good things come to those who wait. Now I'm super excited for a trailer. Wonder how they'll work with his tendency to break the fourth wall :D

 

That will change into Colin Farrell asking Deadpool the same question in which he responds "Since before you got your ass kicked by Ben Affleck."

I am so happy that Ryan Reynolds is playing Dead Pool. I can't think of any other actor I'd rather have.

 

No matter what Ryan Reynolds says, no matter how much he expresses interest and involvement, he has no contract for a Deadpool movie and it's only in the VERY EARLY stages of development.

Whereas he does have a contract to play Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern movie, which has a script, a director and is in the final stages of casting. Guess when the Green Lantern movie is set for release: 2011.

Deadpool's a pretty **** character anyway. He relies too much on the "LOL SO RANDOM XDDDDDDD" factor. He's really just a gimmick character.

Oh wow. I'd rather Reynolds as Deadpool than the Green Lantern since he already played him.
But I do want to see a GL movie, but I don't really Reynolds as being a good actor for that part.
He seems a lot more like a Deadpool

 

He signed on to play Wade Wilson in Wolverine, and the Deadpool spin-off came about due to popularity from Wolverine. It was announced, it's in pre-production but there is no script, no director and only one or two producers. The only reason Reynolds is listed on IMDb is because of Wolverine and him repeatedly expressing his interest for a Deadpool spin-off. He has no contract for the movie (because it doesn't really exist) and there's no set filming date.
So either Ryan will work some wonder magic and film both Green Lantern and Deadpool at the same time, or it will be delayed. OR if Fox is assholish enough they'll make the producers recast.

Geoff Johns met Ryan Reynolds when he was on the Jimmy Kimmel show a few weeks back. He knows the oath and he's done serious roles before (Smokin' Aces, Amityville Horror, The Nines). Johns gave his approval and it's good enough for me. Plus with the guy who directed Casino Royale and GoldenEye behind this, I can't see a problem.

I'd much rather see a Green Lantern film than a Deadpool movie. One will be good, the other will be ****.


EDIT: also, the title for this thread is incorrect. You're not "Comic Book Fans" (because I doubt any of you actually read comics), you're "Superhero fans". Comic books =/= superheroes.

 

Dunno if I should make a new thread or what, but...hey it's happening.

 

I thought about making a new thread for this with the leaked trailer, but wasn't sure if the language would be appropriate. I'm really curious to see the amount of fourth-wall breaking. The trailer had a couple of good lines (Wilson asking not to make his supersuit green or animated, telling the camera that Negasonic Teenage Warhead had a cool name, and "cue the music"). He's not as disfigured as I expected him to be, but that seems like it'll be played for laughs (my two favorite lines of the trailer involved his appearance). Oh, the test footage has been adapted into the film!
There are a couple of things that I wasn't too hyped about: Namely the sheer amount of profanity (as someone who enjoys an obscene amount of it, I hope the movie has some diversification when it comes to exclamations) and a couple of comments that have been taken in a homophobic way. Still curious to see what kind of role Colossus has in it.

The teaser that was released last night for the trailer, (which has been called a trailer for a trailer), was pretty hilarious. They mentioned how they messed up the last characterization and some other jokes that related. I'm kind of curious to see if Ryan Reynolds can pull off this part. He's been trolling twitter for a certain amount of time with Deadpool memes, images and jokes to create hype, so if he can play the role half as well as he does that it should be a decent movie.

I'm really excited to see they're going to break the fourth wall and keep him in character this time. It would be nice to have a superhero movie that's more humor then drama, although I'm sure we'll see a fair amount of both. I've been getting more wary as time goes on of things that are touched by Marvel, but perhaps this will restore some faith in the masses.
And it's coming out sooner rather then later! Would I get in trouble for bringing a chimichanga to the theatre for the premiere?
