I don't know about Once Piece. When I first watched it I found it interesting and then as it progressed it seemed more like, "Potential new character? Fight bad pirates! Then it went onto place nobody has been to before is in trouble so lets have 30 episodes to stop them then do it again only somewhere else. But that was a long time ago and it might be different now.

A true shame there is a direct lack of anime named "hydrogen peroxide".

Well the first few arcs of gathering the crew members are pretty good. Nami's arc was great. Have tissues.

The Baroque Works saga and the Skypeia saga are lacklustre. They're where it falls down the most, IMO. Once you get through them and onto the Water 7 arc, it only gets better. Water 7 and onwards is where it really shines.

So the first hundred or so episodes are good, the next hundred or so are meh, and from around 220 onwards, it becomes great. There are 590 episodes out so far.

(It has the occasional filler arc, but they're not -too- bad, and are self-contained.)

    Haré+Guu plzkthnx.

But, One Piece is really really great. I didn't get terribly far in it but it is loads better than Naruto (imo).

I'm probably not the best one to ask since I don't watch that much anime. But...

    It's quick but really epic.

I've watched a couple of episodes of Basalisk and it looks promising. So far it seems to be ending up as a "How Naruto should have been done" but it is too early to tell.

I find it funny how Bleach fillers keep degrading. The Bount arc was so well done it got a mention in the manga despite it not happening there (I've yet to hear if it was deemed cannon or not though). By zanpakuto tales I was left going, who wrote this and why?

It is a popular show, not necessarily a good one. I watched Naruto up through the sound ninja five because of friends of mine. I find the fanbase to be more entertaining than the show is. Though I do have to admit I laughed my ass off at the "loopy fist style"

I KNOW RIGHT! and the whole...story arc within the main story filler was stupid.

However this new one is happening in the small span of time between manga arcs...which I thought was cleaver.

I hope this new filler is bount worthy. or Ill be pissed lol

well hell, I should probably get started.

Most Bleach fillers are all "we hafta save soul society from a group of villains that want to destroy it"
Very original. The Bount arc was the best one, and even then, it wasn't really great, except for the character development it tried to push forth.

But the lack of character development, and repetitive goals, really don't make the series work for me anymore.

My best friend's sister was in love with zanpakuto tale too. That was the filler that I was considering skipping and I'm half wishing I did. It would of been standard quality filler if they ended it at 255 like they should have. Instead you get another 10 episodes that were just aweful. And truely even if you want to disclude those it still had a pretty bad end for the build. They had the oportunity to make a epic drawn out fight and a heart throb back story. Instead you end up with the ending feeling rushed and very bland back story.

I wish I had skipped the Bount Arc. It was terrible. No character growth. It was never even remembered after it was over.

Very little is though. Rescue of Rukia is repeated constantly but outside of that even the cannon stuff is hardly revisited. And it did get one of the seldom revists. The Horse and The King. And Bount had the villains you could really sympathize for. Yoshino especially gave you what the pain of being immortal was. And the fights were separated from the cut and dry get-more-spiritual-pressure-than-them style that floods the rest of the series. You actually needed a distinct plan for each one. The league of them reminded me a lot of Org XIII, each with great power that fits their personality. But passed that with a league of villains that are only there for an arc it is easy for the witters to place them all on the same side because they say so, the bounts conflict within them selves makes them seem far more real. Now they did seem to introduce the bounts a bit hastily leading to a couple of fixes to be done. And yes it was just a filler, the setting difference between the beginning and end is negligible. But overall, for a filler, it was well written. I was actually surprised when my friend reading the manga told me it was filler.

Bleach > Naruto. By a long shot. And this is coming from somebody who likes both.
However, where they're both at in the manga right now, Naruto's doing better.

As opposed to Pokemon, which is "I have to beat eight people (4 in Orange Islands) and get their badges to get into the Pokemon League. Oh no! Team Rocket is here to take Pikachu! Pikachu, use thunderbolt!"

Or YuGiOh which is "I summon X and place this card face down" "Well I summon Y and attack your X. You lose."

It's the repetitiveness that makes people like things. You watch it because you know what's going to happen. You just don't know HOW it's going to happen.

I don't recall comparing it to another anime series. I can just say all of them fell into pits of repetition because they're shonen(some of them are). They don't really go for complex development, and they don't have to. However, Bleach really seems like it's going to have good character development, then drops it in favor of a sub-par plot with lots of action.

We all know the good guys win, but that doesn't mean we can't expect some semblance of something different.
