I can't handle the terrible characterization of Samus.

 

I didn't play Other M, and I don't really care to. I'll stick with Zero Mission c:

Yes, I am, because it was a strong game and I liked it. And she followed his orders because she respected him personally, not necessarily as a superior.

 

Okay fine, I'll give you that one. That's a perfectly reasonable explanation. But explain this to me: why does Samus need to be authorized to use her non-combative features? And why does Adam refuse to authorize said features right away, particularly in situations where they are urgently needed for Samus’ safety (and at times to protect other characters as well)? Why doesn't Samus take charge and use these function without his say so in these situation?

Cause I recall there was a point in the game where Samus is dying from extreme heat (all while enemies are attack) and Adam doesn't think to say "Samus go use your Varia Suit." The Varia Suit in question protects her from extreme heat and he doesn't think to authorize it until she starts fighting this lava monster.

You have to attribute some of it to gameplay mechanics. It's a game, after all.
But besides that, she won anyway, didn't she? Maybe Adam just trusts her ability to get by without it.

 

It's not like Samus had JUST become a Bounty Hunter. Chronologically, she went through Metroid Zero Mission (where

she just had a paralyzer for the last part

), the Prime Series, Metroid II, and Super Metroid before other M :v

 

Gameplay I can forgive, but from a story stand point that makes no goddamn sense. Your explanation would work if we were told that. But we weren't given any clue that is how he viewed her, so where does that leave us? Well that means either the writing is terrible (which it is and I'll get to that in a minute) or Adam is a neglectful dick. And when you consider the whole "hell run" (the whole Samus running for her life while roasting to death in her suit) has multiple easier and logical options to justify her not being able to use her Varia Suit it likely is bad writing.

edit: Or Adam is actually the "Deleter" and didn't have her turn on the suit because he was trying to get her killed. That would also explain why he shot her later.

Okay, you're entitled to your opinion, and you don't have to agree with everyone else's, but what you're doing right now is flaming anyone that does like the game, and that's one thing that can't be tolerated. We'll end this conversation now, before I have to hand a warning out to anyone.

 

Technically the part you quoted wasn't flaming it was an opinion. Flaming is when an online argument that becomes nasty or derisive, where insulting a party to the discussion takes precedence over the objective merits of one side or another. I haven't insulted you or Myst over liking Other M, I have merely stated my opinion of Other M (which as I said I feel is "garbage", I probably should have said it was a bad game and avoided this) and tried having a very intellectual analysis and debate of its flaws or lack there of. But, out of respect I will stop. My apologies.

Guys, please stop. I know I sound hypocritical when I say this, but can't we both just let it go and stop editing comments like that into posts? Seriously, the constant fighting in RPs is just bugging the **** out of me and so close to making me leave in general. It's why I took a hiatus. RPing is losing its touch for me because of the constant arguments or whatever you can call them.
