okay, it's kinda rusty but here it goes:

there once was a girl named maria. she was the most beautiful girl in her tribe. she would only marry a man that was sutable for her. she was so pickey with who she'd choose. one day, a hansome mexican soilder came to town. he saw maria, and she saw him. he serinated the senorita and they fell in love.

years later, they had two kids. the man was sent to war. the man would come back every now and then, but only to see his children, never maria. maria soon got jelious of her children. one day, she couldn't take it anymore.

she took her son and daugher to the rio grande. there she drowned her kids. after she realized what she has done, she called out for them, even though she knows that they're dead. after a while of calling for them, she triped and cracked her skull open and died.

about an hour later, a man found maria dead. he called the village and they burried her near the rio. they dressed her up in white and put her into the ground. everyone cried, and went back to the village.

that night, in the village, there was a white figure lurking around. it was calling "meehitoooo, meeehitaaaa" (son daughter). maria was doomed to walk the earth looking for her lost son and daughter. that night, she came from maria, to la llarona, the weaping woman.

the thing that makes it scary is that she will take anyone to be her son and daughter. some say when she finds you, you'll be drowned like her children. here's a vid of a different viersion of the story.

the one i told you is one that is one i grew up with. i got it from reading a childrens book called la llorona
