Conventions

Just curious. How many of you have ever been to an anime/comic/whatever convention? Which one(s)?

I've been to two: Anime Boston and ConnectiCon, though I've only ever been to the latter once. I wanted to go this year because Jim Cummings and Doug Walker were guests, but I missed it. AB, on the other hand, I go to religiously. Two years ago I met Nobuo Uematsu there.

I might try to go to one while I'm in China, but only if I don't work on the weekend it falls on.

 

I've only been to one, Animecon/Finncon a few years ago. It was a joint anime and sci-fi convention. I actually met George R.R. Martin there, I just had no idea who he was back then >.< Shame on me.

I'd love to go to Comicon someday. Preferably as a part of a panel ;D

 

I've never even been to a costume party.

 

I have been to one recently and past few years. Sogen Con, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Got to meet Chris Ayres during the last two times I've been there. He's so cool.

 

I've never been to a convention, and excuse me for my ignorance, but what is a convention and what do people do there?

 

Went to Anime Central (A-Cen) this year, but the only one in our group that had gone before sucked at planning things. We essentially wandered the exhibition hall for two days. Didn't help the experience that we were broke, but looking at all the cosplays was pretty cool.

 

I've never been to a convention but I'm planing to go to the New York Comicon and cosplaying as Xion

 

I go to ToraCon every year. :3
I also went to MegaCon once, and I went to SitaCon the last year that it ran.

I plan on going to NoobieCon this September and ToraCon again in the spring.

As for who I've cosplayed, I'd need an entire separate post for that.

Ohayocon twice, Godaikocon once, and I'm going to Matsuricon at the end of this month.

 

There's various kinds of cons with different purposes. There's animu cons, vidya cons, furry cons, etc. etc. People go there to hang out with fellow nerds, often dressing up in costumes. Sometimes also to hear announcements about various media and stuff. Y'know, those kinds of things.


I've personally never been to a conventional convention, but I would not mind going to something like PAX some time in the future. Although, it'd be pretty silly to go all the way to the states just for PAX.

 

But what are conventions?

 

The full and unabbreviated form of cons.

 

What does unnabbreviated mean?

 

It means you don't know how to spell unabbreviated.

 

A friend and I were supposed to go to a steampunk con or something but it never happened.

 

How do you spell unabbreviated?

 

The way the rest of the English speaking world does. Without the extra 'n'.

 

What is an 'n?'
