Coders don't seem to have enough power to properly maintain the Code Vault at its best. How about allowing them to at least give warnings and infractions? Or allowing Coders to have the same powers as a sectional mod?

I think the real question is why didn't we in the first place.

I agree with the Coders should have more power thingy...
    Because theyre technically staff right?
So shouldnt they be entitled to staff "rights"?
    Just saying.

    ...I thought they did?
I figured they were Sectional Mods, just solely for the Code Vault.

    So yeah, I support.

    We can't see invisible members
We can't visit the real other staff section
We can't give infractions and or see the moderator CP

I have to agree with this too. Same powers as a Sectional Mod seems like a fair thing... since they are technically in charge of their Section anyway.
And I also have to agree with Luxord's question of...
Why don't they in the first place?
They are staff too after all.

I shall also pledge my support in such a case. A granting of the associate power over their domain shall assist in the cleaning up and thus benefit of the Code Vault in general, quite immensely. I suppose such Coders are Sectional Moderators in their own right.

Staff's been discussing this for a while I believe.
As to why they never did, I think that goes back to the days when Sara was an admin and had some reason for it, but I wasn't staff then so I wouldn't be able to say.

Supporting member +1 They should get more power, they work pretty damn hard in my opinion. After all they are technically staff so why not allow more power?

When cleaning the code vault I found a thread and Sara was going to delete the entire code vault and the coders were made so staff didn't have to deal with the code vault at all. Makes sense considering it is rare to see any other staff in there. Also would explain the lack of power / respect.

it doesn't hurt, but at the same time we really don't need more power. deleting posts, closing threads, and sticky-ing threads has been sufficient right from the get-go even when the place was more active. the only other thing we might need is to give infractions, but i found that users stop doing things if you just ask them to so we probably don't even need that.

Yeah this guy would not stop. It even came to the point of another user asking me to delete his posts because they were all spam or asking if the same code works over and over. So when I gave this guy a verbal warning he gets up and leaves khv.

I am all for thsi suggestion, I never realised they didn't until I became staff. I don't think it would hurt they are trustworthy.

There will always be an exception to everything, Luxord, but I get your point.
As I said this has been discussed by staff on and off, so hopefully we'll have a resolution to this soon.
But please don't bring individual members into this as examples, there's no need.

Well, I think you're completely right. But seeing invisible members is a good idea. I don't think anyone knew that coders didn't have the ability to do that, or just forgot. The staff section issue, that's already being discussed, which every coder is able to partake and speak about their thoughts on the matter in the respective thread.

I'm sure all coders have seen it, right? ^__^

And the infractions...well, those can be implemented, but the amount of infractions we give is really minimal. I've never really had to outright give an infraction, except in only one case.

Well I guess it really isn't up to the coders anyway. What you guys want will happen.
Hopefully whatever happens is the best possible choice.

EDIT: God I need to sleep. That didn't sound right. Basically saying that you guys know what is best.

Off topic but you can change a setting to be not seen on the forum. Mods (not coders as of now) can see them regardless.
