I can't help but shake the feeling that these two chests are very important. We know that the large chests hold valuable items, which brings me to my next point based on completely random speculation:

Could these two chests hold the 2 new secret weapons for Donald + Goofy?

Think about it - if you were to access this room after defeating the data of Org. XIII, your reward would be Lexaeus' Tomahawk and Vexen's Ice Sheidl (Donald and Goofy's new weapons).

I think you'd get these after defeating Org. XIII data, as it'd be odd to get them before you defeated Lexaeus and Vexen.

Which brings me to my next point; if this is true, could this be the room that leads us to the battle with the AU? This would most likely be the final side quest in the game. And I don't know how else you'd get to that map.

Farfetched, odd, I know. But these chests, being large, must have some importance.

(If you can't see them, look near Goofy's HP bar and the far left middle of the screen.)

Well since is the room where you fight the "data" of the Organization, that theory doesn't really seem farfetched. I think that idea is good. Either that, or that could possibly be the recipes to synthesize the items?

    Maybe?

    It could be...

Or it could be a room after the Organization members....featuring the new Keyblade and a map.

You have a good idea though. ;)

    Recipes work as well.

I also don't think this is the room you fight the data in.

Check my AU theory for this one (in another thread).

I'll explain it a bit more here:

That computer presumably takes you into the Memory of Xehanort, allowing Sora to fight the AU as only a memory, like in Chain of Memories. This is because we see Castle Oblivion in KH II (but in Hollow Bastion, for some reason). A memory room could be used to enter Xehanort's memory (which we see in the new secret ending) and allows Sora to fight the AU.

EDIT: Heh... sorry, Darky, already had that covered in my thoughts ;).

yeah, dude, that's more like it.

But what about a secret area that isn't even a computer? What if the area of the AU and the Organization area is back in Hollow Bastion? If I do remember, you can see waterfalls with Hollow Bastion in the background(not sure on that)....but you can see waterfalls...

I can't imagine the AU battle takes place in a world, or a new world. If you look at the map, it is completely bizarre, basically dirt and rocks - nowhere int he game is there a map like this.

This leads me to believe that Xehanort Memory is being activated by the rooms now in Hollow Bastion that were once used in Castle Oblivion. Think about it - Castle Oblivion was made before Sora got there. The Organization must have been using it for something other than using Sora's memories. I think they used Xehanort's memories of his past to find out more about these AU people. Then Sora came along. Otherwise, why would there be a Castle Oblivion in the first place?

Org. XIII's plans seem to be more than just "becoming whole". If they moved these rooms underground to Hollow Bastion, something must be up. We also see an Unknown approaching an AU on the ground underneath Hollow Bastion - the same place this new map is.

However, the terrain in Hollow Bastion is very rocky. Remember the Heartless battle? The ground was blue, sure, but the same form nonetheless. And I'd imagine as it extended further it'd become more natural.

    I suppose. That seems logical.

    Well sure it IS more...

Though they do more ways of trying to obtain that goal of being 'whole'. They use other methods.
