No Thanks Character Limit Reduction

Would it be possible to lower the character limit from 10 to 5?

It's possible but unlikely to change. It's at that limit to prevent spam posts, and ten characters really isn't that hard to hit.

That's why I suggested 5 instead of nothing.

You're right, though. It's not that hard.
It does get annoying sometimes, though.

I wanted to post "Maybe." in a thread in The Spam Zone, but I needed more characters.

If you put spaces between the last word and period it'll count the characters the spaces add but will condense it to look like one.
Obviously staff will see this and delete it if used in a place where posts count, but that's how you can get around it in places like the Spam Zone.

 

I'm not for making it shorter. Wolfie has more or less covered why. 5 characters is very little, and even if it would be useful for the spamzone, it would probably not be worth it in the long run. All you have to do is this anyway;

I'd be for it, but only in specific places.
Like the Spamzone/Playground, and VMs. I don't think it's necessary there.

It wouldn't bother me if I never got the 'lol too short' message, but even with knowing the 'period trick' I do at times.
...It's more of an annoyance than anything else. ​

I know this has been pretty much shot down, but, while the spacing trick works, it makes the sentence look odd. Not only that, though, but like Jayn implied, it's an annoyance to have to add spaces every time to a short word / sentence.

 

I would like less of a character limit for someplace like the spam zone or VMs...actually, VMs especially. But maybe to 8 or so, because that's what I always end up at whe nI type something short XD. Either way, a lower limit might work better in places that don't count for post count. But that's just my view
