That's new. It's what they call Armored Core 4 ACs. They're supposed to be a step up from ACs of the previous games, which are called Normals. Their pilots are also called Lynx instead of Ravens.

Why did they change the name of everything and still call it Armored Core...?

 

...Because it's still Armored Core? The mechanics are the same, and the plot follows the same strain.

 

I guess I am just attached to the old names. I like my original Armored Core way more than the idea of the new ones.
