I know! It was a leap year, and they were traveling either by boat or plane, over a timezone line thingy. So Kerry was technically born on Feb. 28th, but they then passed over the timezone where it was a day later, February 29th. And since it was a leap year, he celebrates his birthday on march 1st!

 

so very close. i'll just give it to you.
it was NOT a leap year at birth, but it was at the year in question in the riddle. so feb 28 and march 1 with feb 29 in between.

 

Pssh. I was practically right. xD
