Can someone explain to me why people like Dragon Ball Z?

Because I don't get it. Seriously. The characters are all the same person. There is no storyline, just a bunch of arcs (or "sagas" if you prefer) that are exactly the same, but with a different villain. I don't get it, really, I don't.

 

its funny and has super people fighting.

 

Because some people enjoy watching other people go "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!" for 30 minutes.

 

For me, it's just one of those childhood shows that makes you go "AW HELL YEAH. I REMEMBER DIS. BOY DO I MISS THOSE DAYS."

 

Different people different tastes etc etc

 

Because we actually have good taste in television.

 

Cause it was something fun to watch after school was over.

 

Because it was badass when we were 10 years old.

 

Because cell .

 

The fights are epic

 

^This. When I was young it was a very innovative show, the other shows didn' t even had repeating arcs, they had the same story in EVERY SINGLE FREAKING episode. Hell, even Pokemon came after DB and still insisted on using the same scenario and lines in every freaking episode. DB was the first shonen, to my knowledge, whose hero grew along with the audience and even died at some point.
The other major shonen when I was a kid was Saint Seiya :
- MWAHAHAHA ! Die you measly bronze saint !
- Oh crap, I' m done this time.
- Urm, hello ? Saori calling, don' t you dare loosing today, sucker.
- Bummer, she' s right ! BURN, my cosmos !!!
- What the ... huh ? I thought you were dead !
- Don' t you know you can' t hit a saint twice using the same move ? Take this, creep, PEGASUS METEOR !!!
- AAAARGH !
- Love always wins.
Repeat as needed (hundreds of episodes).

 

It's the fights really, and things like the spirit bomb, and Cooler's energy blasts. Fallout 3 had a stupid, plain storyline, but it had a lot of epic moments that made it shine. Plus, if you really get into it, DBZ's story isn't bad. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's bad.

 

DBZ is good in terms of watching the fights. Storyline could be better,but it isn't all that bad. I especially like the whole "saving the earth" moments..oh wait that's more or less EVERY fight

 

Well somebody doesn't like it, therefore somebody thinks it's bad, and thus it is bad. In one person's opinion.

I actually preferred Yugioh over DBZ back in the first 2 seasons. After that though,it just got stupid. It seems to be running on a similar path as Pokemon.

I recently got Season 6 and 9...finished 9 today. c:

But the fights are fun to watch. Cool powers. The Funi dub has the best bgm of any anime I've ever seen. That's not many, but still. It's pretty much the only show I actually LIKE the bgm to, actually (Jap version's bgm sucks so bad, however).
