If you want a good graphic novel look up Joker. Pretty good stuff right there. As for manga look up some Afro Samurai. I can't think of any good novels I've read recently, unless you like big books about psychology and philosophy? I've got a few books on those which are fun reads :D

The Bible is an excellent fiction book to pick up.

Yay! I suspect Joker is batman oriented (Ish clueless), Afro Samurai seems really good, and I do need books on psychology, I wish to persue it someday : D

If you like fantasy adventure books I'd recommend The Bronze Canticles trilogy.
Joker has nothing to do with Batman. Batman actually shows up for like a page. It's more of a gritty gangster story in the Batman world with Joker being released from jail and taking revenge on all the people who stole his stuff while he was away.

I laughed more than I should have at that.
