Source: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-08-18/black-rock-shooter-gets-tv-anime-in-january It's about damn time. Can't wait for this, the Winter lineup getting better and better.
Agreed! the only thing that i see that would ruin things is translation... i dunno how long it would take for someone to actually get off their butts and do that... I actually hope this will result in an English dub... maybe since it seems that the anime will have more episodes than the 50min. OVA, it may receive more global attention. Just out of curiosity, it seems like every BRS franchise seems to have no correlation with each other. The game, OVA, and manga seem to take different routes with no story overlapping... Do you know if it is sequitur with any of the other BRS franchise? I think it would be great if it left off from the OVA, that way we get to know how Ruu turns out, and maybe more in depth with each character.
That is correct. Neither the game, ova, or manga have the same story line or even the same characters (Besides BRS). My guess is that it may involve the OVA in some way... it's being done by the same studio (Ordet), however, Yutaka Yamamoto isn't involved with it, so I could be wrong. If anything I would hope for a prequel only involving BRS and the original huke characters... or even something completely new. If it's a sequel to the ova I think a lot of people will be upset because there were a lot of people who (including me to a degree) thought BRS wasn't involved enough and it had too much slice of life. If they are going to follow that story line I would hope it would be seperate ovas and have nothing to do with this new anime. Guess we'll just have to wait for some PVs and more info first.
I hope this is the case... I feel like BRS is jumping around too much and i think they should have at least one strong main storyline that really is successful, and considered the "original storyline". I hope that would be the anime... After all, BRS was a song that was originally from Supercell and sung by Miku Hatsune, the Vocaloid. So in terms of a good ground to stand on for consistency and plot twists that just blow your mind... It's just not there. that's why no franchise fits with any other one. its like a big puzzle and you just don't have the final center piece that will show you the big picture. So i hope that's what the anime will be like. As for the OVA, i liked the slice of life, i just thought there could have been more BRS in it. But then again, the way the story was written, you really couldn't grasp everything till the end. So in the anime, i kinda hope they will keep Mato Kuroi in it... it almost could work as a alternate identity, almost like Split personalities when she switches from each form....
BRS already existed before that song was made, she is artwork done by huke. The song was only done because of the similarities between the two. Miku's song wasn't even used in the OVA and won't be in the Game. In fact, BRS is technically older than Miku. I do agree that there are way too many story lines at this point, though. Not that I mind too much as long as it's good.
Yes it's an actual series. They haven't announced the number of episodes or anything yet, though I'm sure we will hopefully hear more soon.
I can't wait. I love BRS! Though the OVA left me with quite a few unanswered questions which I hope the anime will clear up.
The OVA alone was enough to start a huge fanbase, so I think it was only a matter of time before an anime popped up.
