Why do some of you obsess over tans?

Extremely pale people also look dead.

I don't tan, never have :D

I get a little bit of colour but hardly any.

Though oddly my eyes appear to be a lighter green in summer, and my hair goes a little lighter from the sun, but my skin is generally pale all year round.

 

Eyes go a colder blue in summer..
and my hair turns ****ing ginger..or pink...
depending on the colour applied at the time.

I can't stay in the sun for a long time...hrmm...
But when I do, I go brown straight away.
I don't like to, as it makes me blend with all the chavs walking around with their plastic buggies and big gold hoops and whatnot.
..*shudder*..

 

My eyes get pink in summer, blue in autumn, green in winter and purple in spring. The same but with different colors applis to skin and hair too.

 

Meh, Im not so fussed on the tangoed look.


I tend to burn then eventually it turns to tan after like, two weeks of being a tomato :v

 

I just get freckles. But one day, all my freckles will merge into one...one day.

While I agree with most people that tans make a person look healthier(and therefore prettier), I've always found a certain beauty in paleness.

It depends on the paleness too, if it's paleness from lack of sun(the kind of creme-colored paleness where the skin looks almost like a stained tee-shirt), isn't very pretty. Naturally fine skin is lovely though.

In ancient China/Japan, paleness was actually viewed as a sign of extreme beauty.

Changing of the times I guess? I don't know. It's best to have a tan just to look healthy, but like with all things, women will be insecure and obsess until eventually they've ruined themselves trying to be something they aren't.

This reminds me of a pale chick I almost dated. She wasn't sickly pale though.

 

I actually don't agree that having a tan makes someone look healthier. In some people having a tan can actually look wrong and make them look too fake.

Especially the people who go overboard with fake tan.


Also, sometimes people who do go and get tans can look really dried out.

Though I might just be biased because I can't tan C:

 

I think its nice to not be tanned, but to have like...a natural glow from the sun x3

Lol, so my sister tried to fake tan today, but it went wrong and now she only has orange armpits :v

 

Fake tan is horrible. Such a waste of money, specially if it goes wrong, which happens quite a lot. Looks like they're been tango'd. xD

 

I agree with the above three statements.
Sometimes features and eye colour etc can look odd with a tan..
I mean, look at the scottish. Have you ever seen a scott with a tan? A proper tan?

My dad, brother n' sister tan incredibly well. Though, i don't, which i get from my mum's side (happen to be Irish). Lots of Scots tan well if they're careful, but you see a lot of folk with fake tans n' those women that have obviously went to one too many holidays in Spain. Mingin'!
