A Scattered Dream

Axel narrowed his eyes at Riku. He had enough of this jerking around crap. This is the guy who said he protected the ones who he loved. Even so he could care for his friends, but Xion he didn't even know her. "What the hell do you mean by love? You and Sora fight over Kairi all the time, and you were even possessed by the puppet master Ansem. Nobodies don't love neither can they show it. You are a user and manipulating back stabber. You can't be trusted and the last thing I am not going to let happen is you to convince Xion to be on your side. Don't you dare say you are on not on a side. Your side is Sora as you and him want to end our existace. You would do anything to protect him even willing to lie to her." He stood up no matter how painful he was in. He would fight to make sure that Xion would not manipulated by the enemy. "She is not going anywhere especially when the likes of you."

 

Not caring if she was being stubborn or not, he appeared before Axel putting her down and he saw that his friend was clearly upset. "Woah Axel you shouldn't be standing right now. Here I got you the elixer and ether." he handed him the bottles. "These will make you feel better."

 

While waiting for answers and not lacking eye contract, Axel caught the bottles with ease as Demyx had handed them to him. He looked at them carefully wondering which ones he should try first. "Wow, you didn't very long finding these. I am surprised that no one gave you any trouble."

 

Xion watched, her eyes a little wary. "Maybe you should sit down....." she murmured.

Larxene took the moment to slink away quietly. They wouldn't notice.

 

Kairi nodded in agreement. "I think Riku is with Xion." She said through her tears.

 

"No it wasn't a problem at all. I just threatned Sora and he's all here you go. It was easy as pie," Demyx bragged as he was proud that Axel was impressed with his efforts.

 

Axel heard Xion and sighed as he sat down and began drinking the ether and the elixers. They didn't really taste any good, but they had recovered his strength, but not to full yet. He wondered if Riku was going to answer him at all. Axel turned to Demyx. "That easy huh? I wonder why Sora would give them up so easily. They are life savers to him and his friends." he wondered.

 

Demyx sat down on the ground to stretch his legs out in front. "Oh that's because I threatend to hurt Kairi if he didn't and I knew he couldn't resist seeing her get hurt again by me so he relented. I thought I was going to have to take them away by force?" He laughed a bit. "But it looks like you're getting your strength back which is awesome."

 

Axel stretched a bit as well. "Yep, I know. Sora is really vulnerable when it comes to his friends and very naive. You and Xion helped me a whole lot. It is like I owe you guys my existance next." He added patting Demyx on the shoulder.

 

Demyx placed his hand on the back of his neck. "Well I wouldn't go that far yet, but I'm glad that you're getting better. You had me worried there for a moment," he looked into his emerald eyes. "I don't know what I do without you Axel. You're the only member that has ever showed me how to be strong and you put up with my antics."

 

Axel chuckled toward's Demyx's comment as he touched his shoulder and looked at him. "Well, I thought that you deserted me and I felt alone. I'm glad to know that I made that kind of impact during your time in the organization. I can relate in most cases. We have things in common. Even though I should hate you because of our elements, but I don't. Besides Roxas and Xion. You are one of the most important nobodies in my existance. One of my best friends. What would you do if I did in fact sacrifice myself?" he asked crossing his arms casually.

 

Demyx looked away hiding the fear in his eyes. "I wouldn't be able to forgive myself and I would go down hill from there. I need you more than you know Axel," he hugged him. "I view you like an older brother to me."

 

Axel seem shock to hear this response from Demyx. He had no idea that he was this valued in his life. "Really? I guess I will stick around now, but I am sure the superior hates me for defying him. Still it is better than feeling like a babysitter as the other members teased me with Roxas and Xion when I taught on how to do missions. I never saw it that way, but as my friends. It is a good thing that you got to know Roxas because I still miss him." He admitted hugging Demyx as well.

 

Demyx returned the hug. "Yeah Roxas was a great guy. The boss will just have to understand and I'm sure he will. If he doesn't well then I'll back you up as much as I can."

 

Axel softly nodded his head looking at Xion to make sure she was still here with them. "Well, since Roxas is sadly not with us anymore," He looked away from a moment then turned back around. "My priority is to protect Xion from him as he tried to kill her before. It seems I have to protect her from Riku as well. As he won't leave her alone and probably fantazies that she is in fact Kairi. Xion wants us to open Kingdom Hearts. What is your imput on this? I don't want to do it," He admitted.

 

Xion listened, slowly edging away. Axel wouldn't let her do what she had to, to protect them. As much as it hurt, she was going to have to run again. This time she knew where. At least until either Riku or Axel or Demyx caught up with her again. She took a deep breath. This was it. Her whole pathetic life displayed before her. She shook away the feeling, watching Axel and Demyx.

 

"All right Kairi. Then let's go find them." Sora took Kairi's hand and ran.

 

"I don't agree with it either, but what choice do we have?" Demyx asked Axel. "We can't disobey the boss. You saw what happened to me before and I don't want that to happen again. The boss's power is strong and he can easily show us no mercy," Demyx replied with fear in his eyes.

 

Axel nodded his head. "I know. It is not fair, but I guess we will have to open Kingdom Hearts since Xion won't tell us what she wants to do. All she wants to do is run away. Maybe I am the problem....I should just back off, then she could rejoin with Kairi and then leave me alone again." He shook his head as he comforted Demyx. "That is not going to happen again with what Xenmas did to you." He promised his eyes serious to show that he would protect him if he had to.

 

It hurt hearing Axel say that, but Xion refrained from saying anything. It would only draw attention to her. She comforted herself with the fact they had each other, then quietly went down the stairs into a room that had been her last memory before she ended up in Traverse Town. Maybe it could help her again.
