    Then the analogy works even better. If we pretend that checkers is the sort of intelligent discussion, whereas chess is the joking/sarcasm. Of course, I realise that this is a bit backwards, but that's the way you ended up. Which do you enjoy more?

    If they will not play chess correctly then they might as well stick to something else. If my choices are between badly played chess and well-played checkers, then I would rather choose checkers.
