Just a little memo to say that I saw the documentary 2016 this evening, and that it was very good. I highly recommend it to all politically interested, no matter which side of the spectrum you stand with. (Don't count yourself out if you are underage. I am too young to vote, but I'm glad I saw this.)

I don't really care to know Obama's life story--what matters to me is his actions as a President. While I don't agree with all of those, I would vote for him before voting for a Republican candidate. Just how I go politically. Obama might not be the best, but I'm not convinced Romney will do any better.

THIS IS WHY YOU ALL SHOULD VOTE FOR JILL STEIN.

I've never thought it wise to completely discredit either side to be honest. It leads to disillusioned views of the side you're not on, which is why I'm neutral about being Democratic or Republican. The important thing to look at is the individual and his/her views and actions, not just what animal they're representing.

I'm a socialist so I tend to side more with Democrats over Republicans, but I would consider myself apart of neither party--they both disgust me, at times. But Republicans are waging a serious war on women right now and being a feminist, they get all my scorn.

I don't think anybody thinks he will do better. The only people voting for Romney are the ones that hate Obama so much they would vote against him no matter who the candidate is, or the people who will vote for the candidate of the party they choose to side with, regardless of the candidates plans or ideals. Both are foolish, and very indicative of how these elections are just popularity contests.

Exactly, and that needs to end. We're choosing who we feel might be the lesser of two evils, the guy who will screw us over less. Now more than ever, we need to look to third-party candidates like Jill Stein and Rocky Anderson to get this country back on its feet.

I don't hate Obama, despite faults I think he's done some real good and I would not throw a bitchfit (as I would with Romney) if he wins. But we can't deny that his "plans" are a bit... cloudy. And that severely hurt him this term--people expected a lot from him and he did do well, but it wasn't enough to impress. Meanwhile, you visit Jill Stein's website, and you're hit with a detailed and clear Green New Deal.

It's a rather long read (and that's only the summary), but if you're having reservations about the Democratic and Republican candidates, if you don't want just another businessman in charge of our country, it's up to you to get involved in third-parties and spread the word.

Sorry to be a political nutcase tonight but the issue is quite close to home for me, and I think people need at least be informed of their other options. The Green Party is probably the next largest party next to Dems & Repubs.

Agreed, which is why Facebook gives me such a headache right now, if only they visited snopes.

I do find it funny that with most people, they're always more vocal about who they are not voting for.

I agree. Unfortunately, and I hate to sound so pessimistic on the matter, I dont ever see this happening. There are so many reasons why third parties will never get elected, from the overwhelming size of the Democratic and Republican parties, to uneducated voters, being people who don't even know that guys like this exist and only vote for who has the more convincing television ads, as well as people who vote for superficial reasons and then cover it up by pretending to support something they know nothing about.

And granted, I'm not super knowledgeable about politics, I just cant stand the current state of politics, and the mindset a large majority of people have towards it, that it's a popularity contest. Right now D's and R's are so far against each other that it seems like until people decide to put aside their views this country will not truly get better, because it certainly wont heal under one president, and as long as people with different goals keep getting elected, nothing will be able to get done that would be enough to do any significant repairing.

Oh I know, that is a legitimate concern with third-parties--there's really no chance of them winning this year, or in 2016, and so on. The goal is recognition. If Jill Stein (or anyone) gets even a percentage of the vote, her name will get out there. People will see her. Maybe they'll be compelled to research a little, and if she runs again later on, they will see her name yet again. It's a slow process and requires determination from the party and its candidates. Do I want Stein to win, yes. Do I think it could realistically happen... maybe. Probably not, but it could. And even if it doesn't, the Green Party is trying, it's gaining followers and momentum, and could make a difference. That's worth my vote.

Just to address one or two things, The war on women is, in my opinion, largely fabricated and exaggerated. I am a women, but I don't agree with abortion, and I don't see why my employer should have to pay for my contraception. That's a personal matter, and non of the employer business or responsibility. Now, I know that some women have to use birth control because of hormonal problems, but the mandate forces employers to pay for all contraception, not only birth control, and that is what gets up my nose.

Romney may not be the best man for the job (I was rooting for Gingrich) but he is a business man, so he knows what is going to help or hinder a business. Also, anyone who is committed to stopping the health care law had my vote. I agree that we need t do something to help the uninsured. My mother was for a large time, without dental insurance, and the consequences are still following her, but this is a bankrupting version of England's National Health. What's wrong with that? Well The most prominent thing to me, is that old people will not get treated. My uncle died of cancer because he was over eighty, and the National Health decided they wouldn't treat him because of his age. This means that my grandmother, who is full of life, and fitter than many younger people, will not be allowed to get the medicines which are keeping her healthy. She won't be able to get the iron transfusions she needs. This, to me, is very disturbing.

I know hardly anyone here will agree with me, but please keep in mind that I have not been rude, nor have I attacked you. I have simply stated my opinion, so if there is going to be a discussion (I would welcome one) don't get defensive and think that I am in some way looking down on you, I'm not.
