That's not the point of the internet, and they'd lose a lot of business for that.

Actually major websites like Google and Wikipedia have censors, and by simply just selling the internet is a method of control over it, for you have ot pay just to use it.

I had a feeling this kind of thing would eventually happen. It was only a matter of time. -shrugs-

 

I wonder if this would also affect the Internet on peoples mobile phones. Would cell phone companies raise their data plans or internet use?

This is rather silly. Some sites could do this kind of thing but what they aren't getting is that people can make their -own- networks etc and trying to control the internet in such a fashion would cause groups to go underground and things would get really messy. The internet is public for a reason and this would just be a very stupid maneuver. How could they manage to control people networking their computers and making their own hubs and backbones? It would be really difficult to do and then you'd have a ton of different groups having similar things. It's much easier to 'control' as the big mammoth thing it's turned into instead of getting people mad who do know quite a bit on networking, let alone hacking.

 

Maybe by 2012 they will have a device that doesn't use a computer or phone to access the internet. And it would be FREE!!! ... ummm maybe not

 

Well if it does happen, and enough people are aware of it (particularly the upcoming generations that are growing up around the internet, like us), they will simply stop using this stupid system and the companies will lose money, and other off-brand companies that are outside of the control of these bigger companies will gain more service and eventually overcome it.

But, hopefully this entire dilemma doesn't even happen and the internet stays nice and open.

But seriously, y the hell would ppl want to do that? The minute the companies raises the prices like heck, BAM. There goes billions of their money cuz the major sites are gona be like a fricken wasteland. Google's gona go down like crazy, Wiki's gona folo, and so forth. This is just a bunch of bull**** set up by corperate suits to rip off our cash. F***ing *******s.

There's also a lot of underlying issues as well. The minute these people take away the internet, the whole world's gona go into chaos. Billions of money is gona be lost (cuz every country's gotta use it in some way and some time) by every1. And following that, everything's gone into confusion and disorder and before you no it, BAM. It's not just the end of the Internet, it's the end of the fricken modern society. Yeah, I'd definately like to see those snobby corps. at Comcast, At&t, etc. drink their nice cup of coffee and laugh their a**es off cuz of wat they're doin to the world while dealing with billions of angry mobs rite outside their HQ. That's definately a VERY gd business plan goin for them.

On the other hand, given that if we can survive without the internet for a certain amount of time, maybe some ppl somewhere will revive the proper way of the internet when the time comes and everything will b back to normal. Or maybe something else better than our current network is gona b made. But who noes. (either way, letting our internet stay is the best thing overall)

I guess the least we can do for these next 4 years is gather a s***load of ppl and boycott this f***ing piece of bulls***.
