    They didn't kill themselves. Basically
    Tenshi/Angel/Kanade has evil clones of herself and they're unstoppable unless someone does a suicide mission and tackles her while "dying" in the process. After being killed, they come back to life within a few hours, (If you wanna know why, watch the series, I don't wanna spoil it) which explains why their deaths are so comedic.
