To type up the lyrics of the song, before the singer can finish them xD it basically helps your typing speed, and also can also help you learn Japanese more at the same time. So I guess it's more like fun education.

 

I tried it myself just now.

I can see how it can be difficult when they just mesh all the letters together like that. It'd be like 100x easier if they spaced out the words. XD I tried just listening to the audio and just type what I hear instead of looking at the words--and it worked for some songs... but some were brutal. XD

 

Oh snap I just found Utada Hikaru - Hikari on it.
