Obito and Kakashi were childhood friends.
Obito was a scaredy cat crybaby and Kakashi didn't give a f--k about anything but the missions.
Obito got him to care more about friends than a goddamn mission and half of Obito's body was crushed by a boulder during an ambush by their enemy while he was trying to save their friend Rin who he had a crush on.
She never loved him, she loved Kakashi.
He told Kakashi to take his Sharingan that was intact because one of Kakashi's eyes got sliced by the enemy.
Rin transplants the eye, Obito dies there, and Rin dies in a mission later.

The two in the second to last panel are Naruto's parents. Minato, a.k.a. The Yellow Flash, a.k.a. the dude on the right, was Kakashi, Rin, and Obito's mentor. The girl was his wife.
