There is an option at the top of my, (or anyone elses) profile page to hide user customizations, you could use that to alleviate the text problem, and also, I never use the other board theme, if thats what you are using, I see your problem.

On the DS side, I don't really know what to say or how to help.

If you are still running ver 9.4, I strongly suggest an upgrade to 9.5. There is an option in the sound config that makes it sound better (no popping or repeating)
