Well that is kinda how they explain it in kh, but that is actually true. Sephiroth was an experiment maid by the Shinra company out of Jenovas cells. He was suppose to be the ultimate SOLDIER. When he found out how he was made he turned on shinra and basically became evil. When he turned on Shinra he nearly killed cloud and Zack. They were found and experimented on using pure S cells (Sephiroth cells) Because Zack was in SOLDIER his body make up was alteared already, but Clouds wasn't. So Cloud and Sephiroth have similar cells in them and they are basically rivals of eachother. Oh yeah and after all the experiments Cloud was scene as only a puppet by Sephiroth.
