Implemented DJ Time

So, I have an idea for a DJ Block for the Radio. It would be run a lot like Question Time.

List of people.
Vote.
Winner submits songs and optional intro/outro.
It's played on the radio.

 

I'm okay with this. It would certainly bring in more variety to what's playing, rather than just SE/FF/KH/Disney.

 

I think it's a neat idea. We do have quite a few events going currently on the radio, but new suggestions are always welcome.

So I guess people would put themselves forward for it first, right?

 

Assuming whoever's in charge stays on top of it, unlike Question Time, I'm all for this.

 

I'd say yes, but if like it if it weren't exclusive to premium members.

I would say it depends on the poll design. If it's by nomination, I don't see it being an exclusive, but if anyone can elect themselves, then it would have to be exclusive to Premiums.

 

So, any word on whether or not this could happen?

 

Hasn't really been too much discussion on it yet (the Prems had a similar idea for a radio show so we're trying to make both be able to work out alright).

Will try to get back to you guys by the weekend at the latest, but just to make sure of the layout and all:

• People can nominate others themselves
• They go on a poll (lasting a few days -- up to a week)
• Winner(s) get to choose what songs they want to play + submit optional Intro/Outro (will there be a time limit for their block)
• Rinse and repeat

Okay, so far there have been two member requests for a more member driven radio show. One by Rainshine (psychedelic), and one by Llave de Espada (Quorra) for Premium members. After looking through the threads and seeing member responses, we've come up with this draft of how things can work.


_DJ TIME - Rainshine's Idea

RULES

• Normal Members only.
• Shows can only be up to 30 minutes in length (including optional commentary).
• Must be sent to a staff member, at the very latest, the night before the show.

HOW IT WORKS

• A thread to reserve a spot to host will be made in Audio Projects.
• A voting thread will be posted every Sunday and will close sometime that week.
• The winner will make their show (fitting the above criteria) and submit it to staff.
• You, the winner, can host your show in the SpamZone [DJ Time with ____!]
• Everyone can listen as it plays on the Radio (you may also post a download if you wish!)
• Repeat ad infinitum.

_PREMIUM PRIMETIME - Llave de Espada's Idea


RULES

• Premiums only.
• Shows can be up to 60 minutes in length (including optional commentary).
• Must be sent to a staff member, at the very latest, the night before the show.

HOW IT WORKS

• A thread will be posted in the Premium Section.
• Here, you may reserve a time to host your show (for now, limiting it to one show on Saturday and one on Sunday as a testing stage to see how it goes).
• After this, compile your music together and send it to staff.
• The staff will put it on the Radio at the scheduled time.
• You, the Premium Member, can make your hosting thread in the SpamZone [Premium Primetime with ____!]
• Everyone can listen and post as it plays (you may also include a download of the show if you wish!)
• Repeat ad infinitum.

Overall, we decided to give Prems more leeway as a Premium benefit due to the loss of benefits in the XenForo move (click here to see more of the discussion, Premiums may click here).

NOTE

This is NOT set in stone yet. You are strongly encouraged to post if you think any changes are in order/should be in order. Looking to get this matter solved by Sunday night so we can get this rollin' soon. o;

I think you outta give yourselves more time to review the shows. A day isn't much time, especially if alterations have to be made.

 

Am I the only one who thinks it should be for both Prems and Normies?

 

It is, according to what Plums posted; there's a block set aside for Normal Members ("DJ Time") and a block set aside for Premium Members ("Premium Primetime"). The biggest distinction is that Premiums get more time (60 minutes over the Normal Member's 30), along with some others. It's all in the post.

And yeah, they are two separate things, one for Prems (Premium Primetime) and one for Normies (DJ Time).

 

I think he means having one block for both instead of two separate ones.

 

Ah, alright. In that case, though, we could always lump the two together, but the idea is to give a perk to Premiums, while still letting Normal Members participate & not feel left out. If you're really envious of the Premium system, get postin'.
