Chrno Crusade (action, demons, christianity paradox) - intriguing plot

RahXephon (mecha, sci-fi, gore, drama) - bittersweet and slightly surreal

Now and Then, Here and There (Military, drama) -NOTE: gore, rape, abortion, futuristic warfare - I found it emotionally moving at times

Full Metal Panic (Military, comedy, action, hints of romance) - a nice complete package of action/romance/comedy

Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid (Season 3) *Season 2 is complete comedy/omake so I didn't bother listing it.

Gundam Seed (Mecha, drama, action, politics) - amazing OSTs + battles

Gundam Seed Destiny (Season Two) - amazing OSTs + battles

Escaflowne (Mecha/Medieval/Fantasy, drama, romance) - good OSTs

Fate/Stay Night (magic, action, romance) - excellent fight scenes

Juuni Kokuki (fantasy, drama) - very good series (wasn't completed, however)

Soukyuu no Fafner (sci-fi, mecha, drama) - surreal, but somewhat moving.

You can find synopses for them on animenfo.com or animenewsnetwork.com

Wolf's Rain is a good anime. It has blood and alchohal in it.. But it makes you think and is really good. It is a weird one,but it gets eisier to understand the longer you watch it.

Another good one,and my favorite,is Rurouni Kenshin. Also bloody and has alchohal. It's about a swordsman who tries to live without killing after a war he fought in. Really good, and also tends to make you look to the light, like Kingdom Hearts, sorta.

Hope you like those, they're really good Anime...

Actually, Rurouni Kenshin makes you think that a large amount of people's lives would be much better if the world didn't have any violence. >.>

One Piece - Fantastic series and I would reccomend it to anyone...just not the dubbed version.

Bleach - Another fantastic series...apart from the 'Filler Saga' >.<

Yu Yu Hakusho is good if you don't mind extended, rediculously long multi-episode battle sequences and irritating "tournament" plotlines... The characters are what save the series, so I suggest it.

Wolf's Rain; I can't add much more to that besides what FireNanaki already stated. It's only thrity episodes total; short, concise, very little filler (except for that span of two or three episodes of nothing but recap... I'd skip those. Around episode #17, I believe)

Umm... other than that, I can't really think of any "must see". If you're interested in a good manga series, I'd suggest D.Gray-Man; I honestly didn't like the anime that much, but the manga is amazing.

I would suggest Rurouni kenshin. It's a great anime with great plot and pretty tense fights. Also Samurai champloo is interesting though i don't like it that much and One piece.
