Bronies make the best music, for serious.

I personally have a special place for Dr. Dissonance's steampunk/horror covers.

    ???

Colt sounds stupid. Do you know where the two phrases come from? The whole fandom technically started on 4chan, that dark, DARK corner of the internet. 'Bronies' and 'colts' came from the two main boards, the two terms originally put forward were /b/-ponies and /co/lts. When bronies (as became the accepted term by both people within the fandom and out of it) left 4chan, it was the best decision they ever made. Why people would want to take a step back is beyond me.

I don't see why, If you like the show and are outside the target demographic, you would take offence to being called a brony. Because that is kind of what you are.

EDIT: The Fuk, this one is much better.

Besides, a 'colt' is the actual term for a male pony/horse/other equine. That kind of implies you want to be one, 'brony' only implies that you like them. People think we are weird enough already.

Also, the Equestria Girls song Studio B made uses the term 'brony' in its lyrics. They've officially recognised it. So there :P

I personally prefer to simply call myself an MLP fan. The stigma surrounding a specific name for the fandom, specifically "brony", is offsetting because it gives rise to a label, and it makes it easier to group the kind of people who make MLP porn with people who just like the show and see such things as a perversion. It gives what are otherwise just fans of a show the feeling that they are a part of a specific club. This does not help their image in the least, and it creates an us-them attitude without even having spoken with the opposition. Also, anything using the word "bro" is instantly more annoying than it would be without using it.

Fair enough, but it still seems odd to me to get so worked up over a name.

And most of the people who insist about railing on those who like the show would still do it if we had a label or not. It's better than 'pony******s', 'brownies', 'my f***ing gay little pony r****ds', and various other lovely and insightful terms I've come across.

Anyway, no point getting into an argument on what is otherwise an epic thread.

    Have some rock Scootaloo.

Ah, I should be a bit more clear. I dislike people who exclaim, "I'm a brony!". It is as if they are trying to be different, and I hate that.

I'm surprised this has not been posted yet.

I don't call myself a brony to try and 'be different'. I call myself that because I'm a fan of the show, just like fans of Doctor Who call themselves Whovians or Star Trek guys are Trekkies.

Except that I am a fan of both of them and I do not call myself either of those. By your definition, I am a brony, a Whovian and Trekkie. Those are definitions of identity. "I am a/an X." I dislike it when people identify themselves based on what they like. It is kind of like the console wars. People identify with the console that they like most, which leads to being majorly offended if someone else does not like it. It makes the thing you like a part of your identity; in a way, you believe that your worth is held in part by the thing that you like. That is a major problem.

If you like a show, then you like a show. Do not give yourself a label because of it. "Makaze likes Doctor Who," not, "A Whovian is someone that likes Doctor Who, therefore Makaze is a Whovian." Do you see the difference?
