Right, by the way, when you get to finishing the story, read this: Okay, so, you probably all wanna know what happened to Xehanort's lookalike. Well everyone decided to ignore him for the moment so Kairi could have a good time with Sora, who knows, I might make a sequel.

    When The Last Hero Falls…

Authors note: This story is about Kairi and Sora, but I’m not saying anymore, I want you guys to read it… not a very long note… well… enjoy!

    Chapter One (1): Darkness Returns

Sora jumped up to slash his Key blade at this unknown enemy, this enemy had a slight resemblance to Xemnas, but he had more power, as Sora gripped his Key blade tight he swung it with incredible power to hit the enemy’s stomach, but the enemy blocked it. Sora landed on the ground and dodge rolled to catch his breath.

Now it was Riku’s time to shine, Riku had learnt from Sora’s attack that jumping directly did nothing, but if it was used properly, it might possibly come in handy, so he had to think of a little strategy before the enemy got to Kairi and Naminé, who were sitting a little distance away. Riku stared at the enemy in concentration, trying to see behind the attacks, he closed his eyes and thought of a strategy that might work.

Riku held his Key blade with both hands pointing in front of him, causing a bright light to appear, which blocked the enemy’s sight, as Xemnas’ lookalike rubbed his eyes trying to fix his vision, Riku jumped behind him, stabbing the enemy in the back. Xemnas’ lookalike let out a bloodcurdling yell of pain, Riku fell back and landed on the ground, he stared at Roxas, “Finish the guy off, Roxas.”

He said, trying to catch his breath. Roxas wielded two key blades, oblivion and oath keeper, “HERE YOU DIE, OLD MAN!” He yelled as he ran up to the lookalike, but before Roxas could attack, the old man looked up and smiled, the old man concentrated his energy on the power he had, making a big orb of electricity covering his fist, he punched Roxas in the stomach.

Roxas flew into the dusty ground, trying to sit up; he tried to catch his breath to get his energy back, “ROXAS!” Roxas heard a familiar voice scream, Naminé was running up to him as fast as she possibly could, she skidded down beside Roxas wiping the dust off his back. But Roxas didn’t look at her, his eyes were glued to something in horror, Naminé looked to where Roxas was facing, and in horror she couldn’t look away either…

The old man had the electricity around his fist but he was heading for Sora, and Sora didn’t notice because he was looking down trying to catch his breath, the man ran so quietly on the dirt, but when Sora looked up, it was too late, the lookalike had hit Sora with more power then he hit Roxas, as he hit Sora the dust flew up from the ground cracks and blocked everyone else’s sight.

They all blocked their eyes but they wanted to get to Sora as quickly as possible. Kairi had watched the whole thing, and she didn’t care if the dust got in her eyes, she jumped up and ran through the dust and dropped on the ground to feel if anyone was near, she felt a piece of metal shaped like a crown, and urgently she knew it was Sora, she also knew that the lookalike would have been beside Sora, so she used her fist to punch something near, but all she hit was thin air, the lookalike had gone.

Rubbing the dust away from their eyes, everyone looked around, when the ground had settled and the dust was gone, they heard a scream from far off, it was Kairi, they all got up to look around and when the fog from the dust cleared, they saw Kairi, drenched in Sora’s blood, crying and shaking.

Chapter two (2): Heartbreak and Pain

Everyone ran up to Kairi to comfort her as she was shaking her head and trying to speak over her blocked throat, as if she had dry swallowed a big pill. “No, no, no, no, NO!” She cried, staring at the blood that covered her hand, Kairi dropped down and put her head on Sora’s chest, trying to see if she could hear his heart, sadly, there was no beating, she tightly grabbed onto Sora’s shirt, her tears dripping onto the blue fabric, Naminé put her arm on Kairi’s shoulder to comfort her as Riku and Roxas bent down to check Sora’s injury.

They looked at each other with worried faces. They couldn’t just forget him, even though he was dead, they needed to take him back to the island, so as Naminé helped Kairi up, Riku put Sora’s arm around his shoulders and began walking, making sure Sora wasn’t dragging on the ground, “You helped me home, buddy. Now it’s time I help you.” Riku said as he began walking.

Naminé opened a portal to get back to the island, as the group walked back, they were figuring out what to do now. “Let’s have Sora’s funeral tomorrow, tonight at midnight we’ll build a memorial for him, and we’ll get everything from hollow bastion, Leon and Cloud have a lot of building tools to help us.” Said Riku,

“And the girls can help us pick some flowers for everyone to put on the memorial.” Added Naminé, “Then it’s settled, are you okay with that Kairi?” Asked Roxas, Kairi nodded, still crying. “We’ll go to my house now, we’ll write about the funeral on the paper I have at home, and put them at each front door on the island, also, everyone should wear black. You can all stay at my place for the night, my parent’s are on some business trip, they both started they’re own business.” Said Naminé.

Chapter Three (3): Distant Memories Never Leave You

As they got to Naminé’s house, the boys grabbed some paper and began writing ‘invites.’ Naminé knew Kairi was still upset so she went to make hot chocolates, and Kairi had gone off to the bathroom to wash off the blood from her hands. When she got back Naminé handed her a blanket and her hot chocolate, Kairi sat back on the couch, wiping the tears away from her face.

Riku got up to call Leon on the phone and tell him to come to Destiny Islands, when he walked back into the lounge room Kairi looked up and said quietly “W-Where’s Sora’s … Body…?” Riku looked down at her and smiled “He’s lying in the spare room on the bed right now.” Riku turned around and walked to the shelf with all the memorable pictures, he stared at one with Sora and Kairi, eating a Paopu fruit,

“I remember when you and Sora ate your first Paopu fruit Kairi, and Sora choked on his piece.” Laughed Riku,

“And we all had to help him swallow it so he wouldn’t ruin that night.” Kairi smiled a little, and then Roxas got up, walked over to the shelf as well and stared a different photo, of Sora standing behind a money raising stand. “And that time when you lost all your munny at sea, and Sora made a stand for you, ‘raise money for Kairi’ it was called, and everyone would come up and say ‘What’s wrong with Kairi? Is she okay?’” He said.

Kairi swung the blanket off her and ran down the hallway to the spare room, and she bent down beside the bed on which Sora was lying on. She started to cry again, all those moments, all the memories, she would never experience them again, she sat up on the bed and pulled up Sora’s body to give him one last hug. Meanwhile back in the living room, everyone was curious, “do you think we made her upset?” Asked Riku, “No, she just misses those memories, let’s go check on her.”

Replied Naminé. Back in the spare room, Kairi put Sora back down onto the bed, she put her hand on the right side of his face gently, and a flashback of all the memories flew through Kairi’s mind, the one picture she couldn’t get rid of, was the one she feared most, Sora lying on the ground dead, she put her hands onto her head as she scrunched them up into fists,

as the other three saw Kairi kneeling down shaking they immediately had to figure out the problem, “the picture of Sora’s dead body, it’s Haunting me!” Kairi screamed, she couldn’t take it, she wanted the pain to go away, but that picture wouldn’t get out of her mind. “Kairi, calm down and take a deep breath,” said Naminé, “Just keep calm, its okay.” Kairi took her fists off her head and took a deep breath, “I’m… s-sorry, it’s just… seeing Sora… you know… it’s painful, even looking at him, it cut me apart.”

She stopped shaking and took another deep breath. “I share half of your heart Kairi, and I can feel the pain that you’re feeling, and I know I can’t exactly say I know how you feel, but… I know you’re strong and you can make it through this.” Naminé said quietly, “We have to go send out the invites, and Leon’s going to be here soon. Do you want to come?” She continued. Kairi nodded slowly.

Chapter Four (4): Building the Chapel Stand

Sending out the invitations and looking at Sora’s photo on each one while sliding them under each neighborhood door upset Kairi, but she knew it was the right thing to do, when everyone had finished, Leon, Cloud, Yuffie, Aerith and Cid walked up from the shore. “We heard about Sora’s death, we’re really sorry.” Said Yuffie, “Well, we’re hoping to build a memorial, you girls can help us pick some flowers, and you boys can help Riku and Roxas build the memorial for tomorrow’s funeral, and if you’re planning to come, you’ll need to wear all black.” Answered Naminé, “You’ve got our help.” Replied Leon.

    -()-

The girls decided to pick Sakura blossoms for the flowers, they made the stems perfect while watching the boys build the memorial stage, they had permission to build it in the church, so they did so, the girls put Sakura blossoms in a small golden brass bowl in the front of the isle so everyone could take one and place it beside Sora’s coffin. By the time the memorial stage was done and the flowers had been placed into the bowl, Yuffie, Cloud, Cid, Leon and Aerith had to go, so they parted back to Hollow Bastion.

The gang walked back to Naminé’s house and set up their clothes for tomorrow by their sleeping bags in the lounge. They were all going to wear black versions of their usual clothes, as Kairi sat down to place her clothes by her bed, she started to cry again, but not as long as last time. Roxas switched on the television to see what was on, Drama, news, and some sort of marathon of a show they liked. They all got into bed and began watching, not long later, everyone was asleep, and as usual, the boy’s were snoring.

    Chapter Five (5): The Funeral

Everyone woke up and took turns taking showers and getting changed in the bathroom, when they were all ready, Kairi grabbed a picture of Sora smiling and took it along with her to church.

When they got there, everyone was seated, some crying, some comforting, some completely broken down, everyone was devastated to lose such an important person of the island. As Kairi and the others sat down in front, a slideshow of Sora with his favorite song began to play. Looking at all the photos, Kairi missed Sora more and more by the minute.

When the slideshow was over, Kairi and the others got up and walked up to the stage to talk with a microphone, they began their speeches: Riku first.

“In a world none of you have visited, I was attacked by mysterious monsters and I couldn’t walk, Sora was the only one there to help me, I disagreed that we would get out of the place we were in, I was being so negative, but that didn’t stop Sora, he told me to think positive, and when he put my arm around his shoulders and began walking, we ended up in the dark side of destiny islands, and Sora and I decided to tell the truth to each other…”

Riku shed a tear and got a little angry.

“…I thought I was better then him, and Sora thought so too, but now I truly know whose better, I was jealous of Sora, and I know why, He was a better sport rival, a better friend, and overall, a better person.” Riku walked off the podium and sat back down in front, now it was Roxas’ go.

“I never really met Sora a lot, but when I fought with him in the world that never was, to finally meet a guy a strong as him, was quite an experience, but now that he’s gone, it’s not as happy in the world as it used to be. Sora was a great person and everyone knew that, he’d help people he had never even met, and defeat a monster he didn’t know the weaknesses of; no one could ever be as great as Sora, and that’s why we’ll never forget him.”

Roxas walked off, now it was Naminé’s go.

“I never knew Sora much, but giving him back his happy memories was one of the most memorable times of my life, because I knew how much he missed Kairi and Riku. After finally meeting him again and moving to this island, the group and I had a lot of great times together and Sora was the one keeping us all together.

I know he was a very important person on this island, and he never backed down on his word, so I know we’re all going to miss him, and he’s never going to be forgotten.” She walked back down off the podium and sat beside Roxas, giving Kairi a comforting look.

Kairi stepped up to the microphone and gulped, she was a little nervous about talking, but she tried to talk anyway. “Sora was… the one person in my life I could always lean on, before Riku was the talkative type… and he’d always be so strong for everyone, when we shared that Paopu fruit, it was one of the happiest moments of my life.”

    Kairi started crying again,

“And incase Sora, you never figured it out, I loved you, always have, always will.” Kairi rushed down to her seat trying to see clearly through her tears. She sat down pulling a tissue from the box under her seat.

    Chapter Six (6): Desperate Dream

When Sora’s funeral ended, everyone was outside in the church garden talking about how beautiful the Sakura blossoms were as the Boy’s talked about memories from Sora, but Kairi was nowhere to be found,

she had gone to Naminé’s house for some peace and quiet, she was sitting by the heater looking at her hands, remembering all the times Sora had held them, and a distance memory appeared in her mind:

“Kairi!” Sora said, five feet away from her.

“Sora!” Kairi tripped, Sora grabbed her arm to stop her fall.

“Kairi, remember what you said before? I’m always with you too. I’ll come back to you, I promise!” Sora was trying to grab Kairi’s hand tight so he wouldn’t let go.

“I know you will!” Kairi cried back.

And then, they’re hands tore apart, both reaching to grab the hand back, but too far apart.

    -()-

Naminé, Roxas and Riku entered Naminé’s house, soon finding Kairi crying by the heater, Naminé sat on her knees and put her arm on Kairi’s shoulder,

“This is a little sudden for you, isn’t it?” She said, staring at the tears sliding down Kairi’s cheeks,

“Kai, please don’t cry anymore, it tears me up when I see you upset.” Riku sighed,

Kairi wiped the tears from her face and stared at the photo of Sora in her lap, “It is too sudden, but it’s just too painful to even bear. If I could see Sora once more, just… once… I’d be so happy, having another memory to cherish, even if it was just a spirit of him, it’d still be beautiful.”

Kairi put the photo down beside her and stared back at her three friends,

“is there any way to make that happen?”

Chapter Seven (7): A teachers true feelings.

It was Monday, and Kairi was walking off to school, still thinking about yesterday, and the question she asked Naminé, Roxas and Riku. She took the photo she had yesterday out of her school bag and stared at it while walking past the town to her school.

Kairi’s eyes were drawn to Sora’s smile in the photo, all she had was pictures to remember him, she started to worry, if someone were to happen to the photo’s, Kairi might forget all about Sora again. She placed the Photo back into her bag, turning back to face forwards, Kairi suddenly tripped, landing on the sand.

She dusted the sand off her skirt while kneeling, and she turned around to see what caused her fall, for a minute, Kairi swore she saw Sora standing there smiling, but his figure had faded when she blinked. “I must be imagining things.” Kairi hurried off to her school as she heard the bell ring.

    -()-

Kairi sat down at her desk, joined by Naminé with Roxas and Riku in front of the girls. She pulled out the picture of Sora from her bag and placed it on her desk, Kairi held her head in her hands and stared at the photo, she felt a gentle tap on her shoulder, and she turned to Naminé and stared at her in curiosity.

“Kairi, about, your question yesterday…” Naminé stopped and took a deep breath.

“The boys and I have been reading a lot about, spirits… and we thought we could try and bring Sora back to the island, to spend time with you, the night you imagined, we’re going to try and make it reality.”

Kairi remembered when she thought she saw Sora before school. “Now that you mention trying to bring Sora back, I think I saw him this morning, I tripped over and turned around, and there was Sora’s figure.” Overhearing the conversation, Roxas and Riku turned around.

“Well Kairi, I think this night we try to make real might work.” Riku laughed. “We’ll take a photo so you never forget it.”

The teacher walked in and dumped her things on her desk, the desk always looked so messy with scrunched up papers and apple cores everywhere. She grabbed pieces of paper with math sums on them and walked pass each desk, handing one to every student. Riku sighed and dropped onto his desk, “I HATE MATH! TOO MANY NUMBERS!” Riku got up and looked at the sheet the teacher handed him.

“Times tables, Divided by, FRACTIONS?! ANGLE WORK?!” Riku dropped his head onto the table again, this time, repeatedly hitting it onto the table.

The teacher walked up to Kairi and Naminé’s desk as she handed them both a sheet of paper, she stared at Sora’s photo on Kairi’s desk as if she wanted to break it with her bare hands, “If you ask me, I’m glad Sora’s dead, he was a troublesome student, a dreadful learner in this class.” The teacher said it loud and clear, so everyone in the class heard.

Kairi was devastated; she scrunched up her hands into fists and stood up. “Shut up.” Kairi mumbled, staring at the teacher. “What did you say?” The teacher asked, in a stern voice. “I said, SHUT UP!” Kairi grabbed her sheet of paper and ripped it up directly in front of the teacher’s face,

“Sora was a better student then everyone here, he learnt, he knew all the answers, he got his homework done in 15 minutes, and you’re calling him dreadful? If anyone’s dreadful, YOU ARE!” Kairi grabbed her bag tightly and rushed out of the classroom. The teacher just shook her head and walked back down to her desk, “If you can’t beat ‘em, leave ‘em.”

This time, Riku, stood up, ripped his sheet of paper and yelled at the teacher. “You do not talk like that to Kairi OR Sora, I’m never returning to school again until they fire you, and you get off this island, so good luck teaching me, because guess what toots? You ain’t ever goin’ to!” Riku grabbed Sora’s photo from Kairi’s desk because she forgot it, and rushed out of class following Kairi.

Naminé and Roxas got up, grabbed there stuff and walked off too, but they were stopped by the Teacher’s voice, “and where do you think you’re going?” Naminé turned around and gave the Teacher spear eyes. “Following our friends, because that’s what friends do, you wouldn’t know, you have none!” Naminé and Roxas continued to follow after Riku and Kairi, everyone else in the class started talking to the people beside them and started ignoring the teacher, the other four must have made an impact.

    Chapter Eight (8): Teacher’s Act.

Everyone walked off to the shore at the front of the island, all laughing about how they stuck it to the teacher, well, everyone was laughing but Kairi, she was mad at the teacher for talking about Sora so mean,

“Guys, we should really report what the teacher said, it was mean, and un-called for.” Kairi said, her voice sounding upset.

“Kairi’s right, let’s go to the principal and tell him.” Riku said, staring out at the ocean.

“We should tell the whole town!” Added Roxas.

Everyone got up and gripped their bags tightly as they all ran off to the principal’s office at the school, all the way over the other side of the island.
Everyone sat in the principal’s office staring at the principal,

“so what seems to be the problem?” The principal asked, taking a look at everyone in his office.

“The teacher, Miss Ali, she, said some awful things about Sora, saying he was a dreadful student and she was glad he was dead.” Kairi said, staring at the principal.

“Well, I’ll call her in and we’ll confirm this.” He said,

reaching for the PA to call her over to the office, as he did so, everyone looked at each other with the same looks on their faces, they knew the teacher was going to try and lie about what she had said. As Miss Ali walked into the office, she stared at the four children with a frown, sitting beside the principal; she stared at him, ready for the questions.

“Is it true you said these things to the class about Sora?” The principal asked.

“No, I would never say anything like that about such a wonderful student with a promising talent to work.” Miss Ali replied, feeling anxious to hear what she was asked next, but a little confident she could pass the ‘test’.

“These students said you did.” Replied the Principal, crossing his arms on his chest.

“Well, I’d never say that about Sora, he’s a perfect student.” Kairi stood up and pointed her finger at the lying teacher,

“Stop hiding behind that crap! We have the whole class as witnesses, they heard you, and they heard you perfectly!” Kairi sat back down, frowning at the teacher, Roxas, Riku and Naminé all nodded their heads in agreement.

“It is true, when she said it, and they all ignored her because they didn’t like what she said.” Assured Naminé, the principal frowned at the teacher and stared back at the four students, “you can go now; I’ll have a chat with Miss Ali.”

As everyone walked out of the office, they were worried the principal might believe the teacher’s story, and not theirs, everyone ran off to Naminé’s house to play video games and eat until it was noon.

Chapter Nine (9): Planning the night.

As Riku watched the other three play video games on television, a thought entered his mind,

“hey, we should plan the night Kairi wants now, and try and make it happen tonight!” Kairi’s heart was full of excitement; she knew Sora wouldn’t let her down… most of the time.

Roxas turned off the game console and turned around facing everyone,

“first of all, we need a Paopu fruit.”

Riku got a little confused, “can ghosts eat?”

Riku raised one eyebrow at Roxas, waiting for his answer,

    “well…. Sora will find a way… I guess.”

As everyone suggested ideas, Kairi listened in, but had an idea herself,

“just bring a Paopu fruit, I’ll get Sora there, don’t worry.”

The other three looked at each other concerned, but finally agreed on Kairi’s request. Now all that was left was to bring Sora to the island so share one more treasured moment with Kairi.

Chapter Ten (10): A Familiar Face.

Kairi sat down on the shores staring at the ocean, the moon reflecting its light onto the blue sea put a glow on Kairi's face. She sat down a plate and placed a Paopu fruit on it; the other three friends came down and walked towards her,

“are you ready Kairi?” Riku said, as he passed her a lucky charm Sora had kept on his journey

“use this; it should help you call Sora back down to the island.”

Kairi took the charm from Riku’s hand and clipped it to her dress. As she stood up and walked up to where the waves came in, she looked up to the sky and whispered; “Sora, come down to the island, for a final goodbye.”

Kairi closed her eyes, and remembered Sora’s smiling face, she opened her eyes again and concentrated on the sky, imagining Sora was there, a minute later, she couldn’t believe what she was seeing, Sora was right up there in the sky, she rubbed her eyes and looked up again. He was still there, he jumped and landed right in front of Kairi, she couldn’t help but jump into his arms, even though he was a little see through,

Kairi could still feel him there, she stopped hugging him, and smiled, “you’re really here, I want to share a Paopu again, come over and sit down.” She took Sora’s hand and ran him over to where the plate was, as they both sat down, Naminé and the boys ran off, to leave Kairi alone with Sora, but before they left they took a photo and went off to develop it. As Sora broke apart the Paopu fruit in equal pieces,

he and Kairi both grabbed a piece, when they grabbed at the same time, their hands touched, Kairi looked up and smiled at Sora again, as the both of them began to eat, Sora became easier to see, it was clear that if he ate more, everyone would see him better. Kairi put her piece back on the plate, as Sora did the same thing, since she had confessed before at church she loved Sora, she leaned over and pressed her lips to Sora’s, this time, she could feel him there completely.

Coming out from the bush, Naminé took another photo of Sora and Kairi kissing, and when Kairi came back to Naminé’s house, she’d see it on the shelf. Naminé got pulled away by Riku, to get the photo she just took developed.

Back down at the island, Kairi moved her lips away from Sora’s, as she turned around the other way to hide her face of embarrassment, Sora gently put her head on Kairi’s chin and gently pulled her over to kiss again. Kairi was squealing with excitement inside, Sora liked her as well, when Sora pulled his face away, he began to fade away, Kairi got a little upset, but Sora told her something that made her a little more happy,

“Kairi, meet me every Sunday and Saturday night for the rest of the time we know each other, which will be a long time since we just shared a Paopu fruit, I hope to see you again, and don’t worry, there’s plenty more kisses where that came from!” Sora smiled happily and faded into thin air, Kairi chuckled a little and smiled, she picked up the plate with small Paopu fruit bits on it and headed back to Naminé’s place.

    -()-

As she walked into the front door, Naminé, Riku and Roxas welcomed her with a smile,

“did you have a good time Kairi?” Naminé asked, secretly knowing what had happened.

“It was fantastic, I’m meeting him every Sunday and Saturday night until we forget each other.” The two girls sat down on the kitchen bench stools laughing, as Kairi had only just told Naminé she knew Naminé was in the bush.

Riku bent over Naminé’s shoulder with a cheeky little kissy face,

    “did you kiss?”

Kairi raised an eyebrow, “since when do you like details?”

Everyone laughed and prepared for bed, as they watched a couple of shows, they just kept talking about how cute Sora and Kairi were as a couple, and didn’t get to sleep until 2 in the morning.

As Kairi got up from setting up her bed, she passed the shelf, and looked at the photo’s there, she grabbed all 4 of them and put them beside her bed, taking looks at them all, she finally got to sleep.

Last Chapter; Chapter Eleven (11): Kairi’s happy ending.

Kairi woke up alone, she got up and got dressed in her school uniform, packed her school bag and took off for school, as she locked the door and put her shoes on, she felt a hand on her shoulder, she knew It was Sora, as she turned around, she saw him there,

“Kairi, the teacher that said bad things about me isn’t here anymore, you’ve got a new teacher, she’s a lot nicer.”

Kairi thanked Sora for the information and hurried off. As she walked down the familiar island path to school, she met up with Naminé, Roxas and Riku. As Kairi walked with her friends, she stopped and turned around, looking at the sky above.

Roxas called her over and she turned around and continued to walk along. As she caught up with the other three, thoughts filled her head of what the next weekend would be like with Sora.
