I know it's long, but seriously, you should watch this. I almost cried. It's even more beautiful in motion and with voice (though most of these voices ****ing suck).

 

I can't watch this, I just read the death of Captain America. I can't handle two in one day.

 

...that was years ago. And Cap came back. That pissed me off. It was on real-life national news that Captain America freaking died, BUT THEN THEY BROUGHT HIM BACK.
Then again, nobody dies but Bucky...well, wait. Never mind.
At least Jason Todd never came bac-goddamn it.

About to watch it. Jason Todd was dead for a good 20 odd years, is that not a record? Wait, do you mean to say that Spidey does not come back? Oh god... I like Spidey. :-(

 

I think Bucky is actually the record. I know Barry Allen was dead (though he still made appearances) for about exactly 20 years. And the way that the Ultimate universe differentiates itself from the mainstream (Earth-616) is by keeping dead those that...get dead. Wolverine, Cyclops, Ant-Man, just to name a few.

 

probably a dumb question but are they gonna keep spider-man dead now? honestly, i didnt even feel sad from watching this because i feel like they are just gonna bring him back. just like how they bring everyone back in DBZ.

 

I am only somewhat familiar with X-Men Ultimate, and it did not leave a favorable impression. Loathe their interpretation of Magneto with fiery passion. Xavier lost his qualms for mind rape. Everyone but Spiderman is a dick, to my knowledge [in Ultimateverse].

Huh. Wolverine, dead. He has been promoted to such a significant figure in the series (see: Wolverine Publicity) that it is nigh impossible to imagine mutantkind without him.

 

Read the post right above yours. They most likely are. There are two main Marvel universes (and other ongoing ones that just aren't as "main"). The mainstream Marvel universe is called Earth-616 and that's where all of the common knowledge comes from. This universe absolutely hates to kill people and keep them dead. I mean, they killed off the Human Torch, this whole story arc started because of it, and then brought him back months later. Ultimate Marvel is like a reboot and is designated as Earth-1610. It's made to be more modern and more realistic. Instead of being bitten by a radioactive spider by chance, Peter Parker was bit by a spider that was genetically altered using the Super-Soldier formula, for example. Ultimate Marvel, for the most part, does kill off characters and they usually stay that way (there are exceptions, though). Peter Parker was replaced by a younger boy named Miles Morales and recently, the Peter Parker from the Earth-616 crossed into the universe of Earth-1610 and teamed up with Miles for a bit before going back. But in Earth-1610, there is no more Peter Parker (though his supporting cast is still present) and Miles is the new Spider-Man.[DOUBLEPOST=1345692744][/DOUBLEPOST]

If I remember correctly, Magneto ripped Wolverine's adamantium through every cell of his body, destroying them all and leaving nothing for him to regenerate from. Cyclops is also dead.

The entirety of comic universe is very complex, for any comics company (at least DC and Marvel, anyway). It's safer to read select families of comics than try to keep up with everything.

And the one that died is 1610. Ultimate. 616 Spider-Man is older, stronger, more experienced, and a lot more of a big name hero like Iron Man and Captain America than Ultimate is. Hell, he's even getting a sidekick.

He is getting... a sidekick?

 

I don't know the full details as I'm pretty sure he hasn't made his first appearance yet, outside of news. But it seems his name is Andy Maguire (yes, I'm serious) and he's either nicknamed Alpha or that's going to be his hero name. He is someone who takes no risks in life. He's...average. He doesn't stand out from the crowd, but he doesn't do anything bad either. He has a crush on this Asian girl that he describes as "cute in that anime-kind of way." His powers seem to be energy based. His class goes to Horizon Labs (where Peter now works) to see a new machine. Peter talks about how this is his discovery ("Reed Richards discovered unstable molecules; Hank Pym, Pym Particles; Tony Stark founded Arc Reactor technology"), and it will give the world a clean and affordable energy source (and for some reason, the lab decides that they should show this amazing discovery to teenagers). The machine malfunctions and explodes. The Asian girl is about to get hit by a ray of energy but Alpha pushes her out of the way, taking the first risk of his life, and gets hit instead. It's supposed to be a big deal because Spider-Man has always been the "lone" hero. He's never had his own team, and he's only "guested" on other teams. And now, with this big sense of responsibility that he's had since donning his mask, he's responsible for what happened and will happen to Alpha. They're not supposed to mesh well (Alpha becomes reckless when he discovers his power while Peter is the type that thinks through). Google for the preview.

 

As long as Aquaman doesn't die, I'll be happy.

 

I didn't cry at all, not even tear up... huh, it was incredibly sad and heartfelt though.
