Damn..and I thought the people that beat up the teenage girl had problems.

I can bet that people will say "that's sick"

    "that's wrong"

    and "that's terrible''

As long as the kid survives and they are prepared, I'm fine with that. People should be able to do stuff like that if they want to.

A can agree and dissagree with what you just said.

Sure,if the baby is safe then they should be allowed.

but at the same time it doesnt seem right to throw a baby off a building, even if it would be caught.

Well the babies look to be at least 1-2 years old, so their bones are sturdy enough for it. And I doubt that they'd have this tradition for so long if it had high risks involved. It looks like they have everything planned out well though, so there isnt really a problem.

That's just weird. If it was my kid, I wouldn't let them do it.
    And the babies are naked.
They should at least put a diaper on the babies.

I have mixed emotions about this. At first I was horrified, but then I realized it's part of their culture. And they say there have been no accidents. I guess it's ok as long as they know what they're doing.

No more insane than worshipping a man who died hung on a tree. (I mean, I believe that, but they both have the same amount of credence.)

I agree with what Cin says. It may seem desturbing, but it's their custom and the babies turn out to be okay. So, there shouldn't be a problem.

    "dropping babies for good luck."

    I lol'd.

I don't find rituals meaning to anything at all. In fact I find them a waste of time. But if it's how they want to do things, I can't simply argue with it. It is the way they believe luck piles I guess?

It seemed, despite how weird it is, that the kids were safe. The man dropping them was dropping them so they would bounce right and the guy at the bottom seemed to know what he was doing too and was very attentive. I don't know if I'd want a future kid of mine to be dropped down like that...but it really didn't look that bad to me and these people seemed very experienced. To hear that there have been no actual harmed babies from it is amazing and well, I would guess that's why this tradition still goes on. Losing babies would tick off a lot of people after a while and I'm sure authorities would have banned it by now if that were going on.

I agree with Repliku. Though it is disturbing (I'd totally freak out if that happened to my baby, if I had one that is) it is part of their culture. Also since it doesn't hurt the babies, there shouldn't be anything wrong with it. The fall from the tower didn't seem from too high either. No one finds anything wrong with being baptized so why should there be anything wrong with this. Though it is more dangerous, the point is the babies seem to be perfectly okay seeing as some of them even look like they enjoyed it.

Jeez, people, try not to be so narrow minded. The babies are safe, and the men catching and dropping the babies obviously know what there doing. If there were any problems with dropping the babies, i don't think this would've kept happening. They're different, not stupid.

Still! I wouldn't do that! There is a chance that your baby will die!

Well there hasnt been any incidents for the long time that this tradition has been around. Babies dont have enough motor skills to move in a way that would put them in a bad position, so they'll always land safely. You'd probably be struck by lightning before a baby dies from that fall.
