Shirbit, shirbit hmmm.....where have I heard that before? Oh. The shirbit in Dark Cloud 2. They live in the forests and don't like humans. Similar to dwarves. I don't know what to say to this dough. It is reminiscent of European folktale and fairytale creatures.

At first I thought the topic was "Sherpa Culture" and I was all 'Hell yeah, I love Sherpas'. The actual topic isn't as appetizing.

Yeah, I thought this was about ice cream at first...

What can I say? People believe what they want to believe. For some, their views appear so twisted that there's no way anyone should believe it, and yet...

Has anyone actually figured out what this is actually about?

Yes it's a real quote, but not from a news source.

It's really not that hard to figure what it's about. I got it straight away. ME!

    Seriously, c'mon.

I found where you got it from ^

That sounds very strange, especially the women baking their heads in an oven and men scraping their faces. Do you know approximately how many people there are you practice this and where they primarily live? It sound like an interesting subject.

Edits: I was practicing something called SARCASM. The link actually said what it was, so how could I not realize?

Actually i got it from my Sociology class last year, but it is the same nevertheless. For those that never got it it's referring to British Culture (Shirbit is an anagram of British as said in the link).

Men scraping their faces is them shaving.

It's about our obsession with our bodies.

Is this a metaphor for human society and our preoccupation with physical appearance?

Oh I get it. In the original article the shirbit(british) believe that the body is prone to being dirty so they indulge in hygienic rituals. The "shrine" 'devoted to the body' in every household is the bathroom, what is done in there is not spoken of, the adults never discuss with the children the rituals performed; only enough to teach them how to wash themselves, etc. , "focal point of
the shrine is is a box built into a wall in which are kept charms and magical
potions for the face and body" pertains to the bathtub or shower with the charms and potions being soap, shampoo and conditioner and other bathroom supplies, "These are obtained from the medicine men who
write down the ingredients in an ancient and secret language which is only
understood by the herbalist who prepare the potion. These potions are kept in
the charm-box for many years" means the hygiene supplies are obtained from pharmacies or other shops and the ingredients are the chemicals in the stuff and components, I don't know about the following passage up to "The shirbit have an almost pathological horror of and fascination with the
mouth, the condition of which is believed to have a supernatural influence on
all social relationships." which is talking about their fascination with toothbrushing, and finally, "Finally, men and women indulge in barbaric acts of
self mutilation. Men engage in a daily body ritual of scraping and lacerating
their faces with a sharp instrument, whilst women bake their heads in a small
oven once a month." means they shave and the women put their heads in hair dryers for putting your head in.

    Oh gawd. That's really funny.

Yeah, that's what its referring to.

It sounds so bad when they phrase it that way.
