This really looks great to me so far, even if the teaser wasn't much it definitely gives the feel of the books. The characters look quite accurate, as does the setting so far, and the main reason I have faith is that Susane Collins herself adapted the book for the screenplay, with assistance from director Gary Ross.
The sequel Catching Fire is also going to happen.

tl;dr I'm really really excited. Also that is Rue's four-note tune at the end (though it's cut off in this video).
    But yeah, thoughts/opinions/etc.?

Oh lord, the teaser looks awesome.;~; release date y u so far away

I am also reallyreally excited for this film, when I saw the cast list initially I thought the actors/actresses might look too old for their parts but they fit perfectly. Also I adore that poster, I hate it in film posters when there is too much going on, but this one has a great singular focus and looks really sleek.

I can hardly wait for this to come out, I hope it's as great as it looks like it's shaping up to be! So far it looks like it should stand well on its own and as an adaptation, which is really difficult to achieve (imo it seems most movies go one way or the other in that regard, i.e. Percy Jackson appears to have received decent reception from critics but had a lot of changes made to the plot/presentation).

I haven't read the books, but I want to read at least the first one before the movie comes out.
Most of the what I know about the Hunger Games, I learned from this, so luckily when I do read it, I will picture Peeta as Luke Conard. :3

I did a double take when I saw Lenny Kravits' name on the cast list. ._.

But yeah, me reading the book: recommended?

I read all the books and I can not wait for the movie! I hope they don't change it to much, but they did Percy Jackson for ex.
I wish the date wasn't so far away :(

Finally! Something, even if it is just a teaser trailer! I can't wait to watch this, I always thought it would make a fabulous film when I read the books. Sadly, I know they'll have to miss out a lot so they can cut it down but I don't mind, I'm just excited for March!

I think the characters look very good even though I know none of the names of the actors/actresses in the cast. I don't doubt them though, I just hope it doesn't turn into something like Twilight (I don't think it will as there isn't really a character that is looked upon as 'heavenly' in the book like Edward is).

    Can't wait for more news.

I loved the Hunger Games, and I do hope the movie shall live up to the high standard set by the books...
The actors seem pretty well cast to me (though for I imagined Gale with darker hair) and the movie poster is oh so pretty.

    Looks super special awesome.

I'm actually just now reading the Hunger Games.

I'm sure everyone looking at this has already read, so I won't bother putting it in spoilers...

I'm at the part where Katniss and Peeta are all on fire an' stuff heading into the Capitol's little thing.

    Can't wait for the movie, I'm already in love with these books, and the teaser makes me hurt with want ;~;

I'm so excited for the movie!!! The books were epic!

I do think that in his movie poster, Haymitch looks a bit too... refined. In the books, he was a messy drunk.

This movie comes out three days after my birthday, I'm so excited!

I've read the first two books (still need to read the third), and I loved them to bits. Also the cast looks great and hopefully it turns out to be wonderful.

I have never read the books but my friend has and told me they're awesome.
I guess I'll just watch the movie instead of reading the books.

I've seen some of my classmates reading the book in my class and I've seen a trailer for it at the movie theater when I went to see Breaking Dawn today, it looked interesting so I'll be watching it when it comes out. :)

Surprised I had to go to the 3rd page to find this thread.. I know it's been out for a couple of weeks already, but jeez.

Anyway, I saw the Hunger Games today. It wasn't planned. We went to go see Titanic but my Mam got tickets to the wrong cinema (DERP!) so we decided on Hungery Games instead. My Mam was intially reluctant, but I insisted because I know a lot of people have been talking about it.

I reeeally liked it. When I first heard about Hunger Games, I put it down as a 'Battle Royale... for kids!' but there aren't really a lot of similarities; it felt like an entirely different story. I cried like a bitch when
    Rue died
and I was really rooting for Peeta and Katniss. I had planned to read the first book, at least, before watching this movie but I guess it doesn't matter what comes first - the book or the movie :B

So yeah, where is the actual discussion now that we've seen the movie..?

I went to see the movie last Sunday, and I have to say I really, really enjoyed it. It's one of the better book to movie transitions I've seen. (Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings beat it though)

However, I really did prefer the book in all honesty. Don't get me wrong the movie was brilliant and all, but they kind of jacked up the ending of it.
I mean, unless I missed it they completely skipped out on the conversation between Katniss and Peeta, where they discuss whether Katniss had done what she had done in the arena out of love for Peeta, or just to stay alive. Which turns into quite a big deal into the second book.

They also missed out Peeta's Leg, though it isn't really that big of a scene, they still could've put it in.

So, what do you think the chances of the whole trilogy being transitioned onto the big screen are?

I read book one to find out the differences and i gotta say the book was a whole lot better in my eyes...... i dont like how they jacked with everything in the movies.
I really wanted them to go into detail with threshes kill n the mutts but if I didnt read the book it was be pretty awesome movie
