Umm no. Back then we weren't as medically advanced.

There's already a cure. You have to be treated within the first few days of your symptoms, but as long as people don't brush it off/wait too long to go to the doctor, then it will be fine.

Be careful of course, but I highly doubt this will escalate to the level of a pandemic.
