Since the original Staff Idol thread raked in more than 300 posts in a few hours and the questions got lost, i shall post them here for others to use, and answer.

You are a mod in the Anything else section and a member PM's you to alert you that several members have been causin' a bit of a ruckus in the ID section. They are heavily flamin' each other, swearin' etc for their beliefs, and makin' personal attacks at each other. Others have began to join in and take sides and the thread has filled with more than a dozen pages of flamin'. You're the only staff member on for the time bein'.

What do you do in this situation to calm thin's down? And what punishment should be given?
