Kingdom Hearts II Sora's Story: Twlight Town First Visit

This line always gets me. "With the five of us- I mean six of us."

I counted who Sora refered to to five which would be Sora, Donald, Goofy, King Mickey and Riku but why did he suddenly change to six?

I thought Sora meant the sixth person as in Roxas unintentionally or Kairi, he didn't know Yen Sid after this line as well.

 

It was Roxas. Its a bit hard to explain but they were trying to show in several moments how Sora was unconsciously aware of Roxas. More noticeable is when Sora cries boarding the train and when he was able to name Roxas on the photograph

 

I have to go with Kairi, mostly because of how she was fighting later on in the game with a Keyblade in The World That Never Was.

In other words, she's one of the heroes, too.

Jiminy.

I was going to go with Roxas, but I chose Kairi for the reasons I stated.

 

I'd like to like Jimminy. The poor little guy never gets any screen time xD

I mean we see him in the beginning of the game and we ever hear from him again until Coded.

 

I would have to go with Roxas on this one.

Like mixt said, Sora displayed signs of being unconsciously aware of Roxas (crying on the train, naming Roxas, last words to Axel, etc.). And I believe that even then, it could have very well been Roxas correcting Sora. It's never really been talked about how restored!Sora interacts with both himself and Roxas (really the only time we saw was Roxas/Namine projections at the end), but I do believe that if Roxas could do a projection, he could surely urge/alter Sora's speech a bit.

What I find amusing is that no one even thinks of asking Sora what he meant by 6 when he corrected himself.
I mean... I think people still would have heard him say that, and therefore, they probably would have had the same confusion that we are trying to resolve now.
But meh, that is the wonders of KH. People don't seem to question inconsistencies in that game. XD

 

Well maybe Donald and the Goof thought he meant Kairi? We got Sora, Donald, Goofy, Mickey, Riku, then either Kairi/Roxas. The others probably thought he meant her, when he really meant Roxas...Although he might question himself for thinking that.. The more I think about it Kairi actually makes sense.

Or maybe he's not counting his Majesty, that could be Kairi, and the 6th be Roxas. Confusion...

 

This is a good possibility, although, Sora was talking about defeating the Heartless and Nobodies. Jiminy doesn't really fight or assist anyone in that way, and in KHII, we only really see him when everyone wakes up.

I think he meant Kairi or Roxas. It would make the most sense.

 

I always figured it was meant for Kairi, but now that I think about it it might be Roxas, because there are a few instances in the game that they make Sora unconciously mention Roxas in some way

Had they met up with them when the aformentioned line was said? I can't remember if it was near the start or end.

Irregardless they, like Jiminy, aren't "main character" enough to get that kinda mention. Even Mickey is a bit iffy because he isn't around as much.

 

The line was "You guys (Donald and Goofy), me, Riku, and the King." So he lists five, says five and then corrects himself to six without saying who the sixth was.

 

Oh yes, now I remember the part. With that knowledge I'd lean more towards it being Kairi, I just think he would have to question himself if it was Roxas he was referring to. Plus, like Bushy said, you'd think Donald and Goofy would question him if they didn't think he was talking about Kairi.

 

If this was a real event Imight agree with you but in story telling they wouldn't throwin a whole new scene just for a petty mistake. There was a reason behind him making the mistake or else the scene was a waste of time. I perceive this to be Roxas since he isn't known to Sora and thus wouldn't be named but the connection berween them is strong enough to make Sora second guess his counting.

 

Well there are inconsistencies like this in the games, that happens with such back and forward game making. So that would explain why Sora, Donald, and Goofy didn't notice.
If this is the case then he probably didn't picture Kairi as helping fight on their journey, seeing as she's kidnapped or doing homework for half the series.
