Sonic Generations Will Come to the Wii under Certain Conditions

According to this article, the Sonic Generations will only come to the Wii if the HD version greatly exceeds the expectations.

Personally, I think this is a good idea. If Sonic fans love Sonic a lot, they will buy the HD version so the game can come to the Wii. I may have read it wrong, though, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Code May Exist for One; Sales May Determine the Other

We continue our inside look at what to expect from Sega from our anonymous tipster with this: the same source tells us the company is internally evaluating potential ports of Sonic Generations to upcoming systemsâ€“Wii U and Playstation Vitaâ€“depending on a number of factors.

In fact, our source says internal code allegedly already exists that hint toward the console edition of Generations coming to Sonyâ€™s new handheld system. The PS Vita wonâ€™t come to domestic shores until 2012, but is slated for release in Japan at the end of this yearâ€¦just as other already known versions of the game will be hitting store shelves. There have been off and on murmurs of Generations heading to PS Vita, though nothing has been confirmed officially thus far.

Further, our source says Sega may be working on a version of Yakuza 5 for the PS Vita. The next phase in the underworld action title was discussed briefly by creator Toshihiro Nagoshi when Sega formed a new Ryu ga Gotoku internal development team on September 1st, though no release timetable for the proper sequel were disclosed.

Regarding the prospects of a Wii U Generations port, our source indicates Sega could prepare it for the systemâ€™s launch sometime next year, but only if sales of existing versions far exceed Segaâ€™s internal expectations. Even if that doesnâ€™t pan out, the source says there indeed is a Sonic in the works for the system, and it is likely another secondary title. If that holds, it would continue Segaâ€™s strategy of keeping primary fare on XBOX 360 and PS3, while Nintendo consoles get their own unique games.

That's stupid. Not everyone can get the consoles needed to play that. I would think they would allow it regardless of the graphics in hopes to just get more people to buy it.
