    They were, but they concealed themselves so that thier power would not be exposed. Hence the main Anti spirals appearence.

    Okay, I'm going to fall back on the premise of "Spiral power did it".

    In other words, because they were spiral beings, they sealed themselves away through sheer determination and turned the spiral power around, making the drill of their lives go in reverse, making the anti-spirals!
