Questionable Content: A Webcomic

Anyone else read these comics? I've become a fan, and they're great. They're very much chronological, and should be read from start to finish, although there is usually a joke in each strip.

The artist (Jeph Jacques) improves his drawing over the course of the strip, and it's extremely noticeable, especially if you read through them over the course of a single week.

The webcomic is about a circle of wisecracking friends who live their lives. It's very much slice-of-life, with a focus on comedy. After a while, drama also develops.

It has received multiple awards over the years, and earns enough to allow Jeph to support himself and his wife.

There are currently 1,828 strips, with new releases every Monday–Friday.

I recommend people start from the beginning and read through them.

Also, despite the title, the content very rarely gets questionable. (Although stay away from Pintsize's Twitter feed. That guy's a porn machine.)

 

Questionable Content the Comic

Questionable Content is a comedy romance webcomic. Does anyone else read it? I think it's one of the best current running webcomics. Favorite character, favorite comic? I hope I'm not the only reader here.

My fave character is Pintsize.

 

It seems as though this comic is picking up steam around here. I wasn't aware that Misty read it, and then she went and put a picture of Hanners as her avatar. I imagine that'll promote it a bit more.

Personally, I dislike the newer art style. Seems too serious. I preferred the slightly idealistic, happy-go-lucky style of the middle of the strip. Then again, I could just be associating it with the content getting serious too, as I caught up to the main strip just in time to see Marten get dumped. Then his mother came, and everything just went downhill from there. The QC forum discussions those weeks were insane.

 

I love QC. :x If I had known this topic was here I would have bumped it like crazy, haha. I've been reading since about August of last year and am fully up to date.

I really like the current art style though, I think it's much more professional, even if it has lost some of its recognizable features of old.

 

I actually started reading it from number 1 a couple of days ago and finally caught up with it. It's a lot of fun and I love the humor. I think Marty is my fav char though, just because I can relate a bit to him ^^,
Unlike P, I like the newer artstyle and the seriousness in the comic. I like when anything comedy has a serious touch to it. The plot has to go somewhere :)

Even though marty is my fav char, as my avatar would suggest, pintsize is epic.

 

Been up to date for about three weeks now. I'm quite interested to see what's gonna happen with this conversation between Marty and Dora.

Personally, I much prefer the new art. It just makes everything look more neat, if you know what I mean.

 

I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this webcomic - it certainly does appear quite interesting and entertaining indeed. With summer rather empty for myself I shall thankfully have enough time to run through the archives quite quickly and expect an adding of a fourth concrete webcomic to my reading list.

I honestly cannot see them ever getting back together--though that might be because I was very against their relationship before. I'm glad to see they're becoming friends again! Maybe now things will go back to how they were, pre-Dora attacking Marty. I can't see Dora being too chuffed when/if Marten dates a new girl, though.

 

Well, that fnally answers the question of where Misty's lolzy avi comes from.

I like webcomics a lot so I would'nt mind getting into a new one. Do they update often?

 

It updates everyday, Monday thru Friday. So five times a week.

Marten and Faye. They are freaking made for eachother, it has to happen. When the comic ends, that's what I want to see.

I don't think Jeph has any intentions of putting Faye & Marten together anymore. Yes it was heavily hinted at during the beginning of the comic, and was basically what the comic was based on, but I just can't see it happening at this point. Example being in this comic, and I seem to recall a tumblr post of his outright saying it wouldn't happen.

I agree. I see that as of now they won't be together, but I think eventually, (very eventually) Marten & Faye is ineveitable. However, it's probably a long way to go. Jeph will have to add a couple of new characters, unless he's going to pair Hannelore and Marten, which might be a very funny pair, but veeeeery unlikely (I'm not sure if Hannelore will stay forever alone, but if she's not getting with Marten, I'd love to see her with Marigold, just because.)

I don't really want Marten/Faye. Is it Martaye? Marfaye? Farten?
I personally think Jeph really wants to do that. You can tell that if it'll happen, it'll be near to the end comic. I feel like Martaye (Yes I'm going with that) will be the finale. It's the happy ending, it's the princess and the knight. (Marten as the princess, Faye as the knight) It may not be what you want, but it's the generic, "perfect" ending.

But is Questionable Content really about perfect endings? It's a slice of life webcomic--yes it has somethings that are exaggerated for comic effect but it tends to be fairly realistic.

Marten's mom says he and Faye would make a terrible couple, which Jeph says he is in agreement with.
Marten admits he and Faye would make a terrible couple.

I did really like Faye + Marten but I'm kind of over it now, and I don't have much hope it will happen.

They definitely would make a straaange couple, and probably a non-functioning one. Of course, life never works out anyway, but isnt that why we read fictional stories? To get the illusion that it might happen? Who would you like to see though? Would you like a new character or one of the existing ones?

Dora were a very good match, partially because of Dora's insecurities and Marten still getting over his feelings for Faye, but also because Dora is a pretty driven lady, and Marten is, well, not.

But I also don't think

Faye and Marten would work very well either.

I am very very against Marten and Hannelore, I do think Hanners has the potential to possibly maybe date someone at some point, as she's made real progress with her OCD, but I just can't see them as anything more than friends. I do think that Hanners and Elliott (of The Secret Bakery) could be pretty cute together though. ♥

Padma, and even that's pretty up in the air. And I think that might start a jealous!Dora story.

I'm happy Dora and Marten dealt with things so maturely. c: Shows some growth in both characters, imo.

Okay, so Misty forced me and everyone else on her MSN to read this, an I have to say I really love this webcomic.

Even though the art was kind of cheesy in the beginning, it matured along with the characters. Faye's story in 500~506 really put into perspective why she was such a heinous bitch all the time, and it also allowed for Marten to grow more as well and no longer be that unconfident indie kid, but become more comfortable in who he is as a person and what he wants (sort of).

Also, Hanners. Hanners 5eva.

 

Is it me, or does it feel like the comic is going nowhere right now?

Normally it'd be drama about Faye and Marten. But lately more characters are introduced and it's all been going nowhere lately. Faye and Angus? I don't know, that's fishy.

We need more Marigold action. And I think it's time Jeph blew the lid on why Faye's dad killed himself. I think we all want to know.
