I'm kinda stuck on what to label these lyrics. I'm using the song "Carnival of Rust" by Poets of the Fall for analysis of poetic devices.

And taste the blame, if the flavor
    should remind you of greed?

Would that be a metaphor or something else? I've got pretty much the rest of the song done.

Songs shouldn't be used to accurately asses poetic devices, they follow different rules.

But you could back up a point for a Metaphor I suppose. Just try and justify it.

    Yeah, I agree. :\

lol forgot to take "metaphor" out of that. I labeled lyrics with different colors for each device.

I noticed that and thought how it didn't flow properly but now it's much better : )

Alright, it's a metaphor because you can't taste blame but it conveys the sense of the author referring to a larger context, showing a deep and emotional topic that the author is discussing.

You could argue for a conceit. They are like really strange, unusual or eccentric metaphors.

    2. A fanciful expression in writing or speech; an elaborate metaphor.

    Good luck.
