A interval variable is a measurement where the difference between two values is meaningful. The difference between a temperature of 100 degrees and 90 degrees is the same difference as between 90 degrees and 80 degrees.
A ratio variable, has all the properties of an interval variable, and also has a clear definition of 0.0. When the variable equals 0.0, there is none of that variable. Variables like height, weight, enzyme activity are ratio variables. Temperature, expressed in F or C, is not a ratio variable. A temperature of 0.0 on either of those scales does not mean 'no temperature'. However, temperature in degrees Kelvin in a ratio variable, as 0.0 degrees Kelvin really does mean 'no temperature'. Another counter example is pH. It is not a ratio variable, as pH=0 just means 1 molar of H+. and the definition of molar is fairly arbitrary. A pH of 0.0 does not mean 'no acidity' (quite the opposite!). When working with ratio variables, but not interval variables, you can look at the ratio of two measurements. A weight of 4 grams is twice a weight of 2 grams, because weight is a ratio variable. A temperature of 100 degrees C is not twice as hot as 50 degrees C, because temperature C is not a ratio variable. A pH of 3 is not twice as acidic as a pH of 6, because pH is not a ratio variable.

    SAN DANIEL

    (Old Testament)

Daniel is an Old Testament prophet. His name is rare in Scripture. In 1 Par. 3.1, contains a Daniel among the children who were born to David in Hebron and from which nothing is said in the subsequent history. In 1 Esd. 8, 2, is another Daniel among returnees who came up with Ezra from Babylon to Jerusalem. None of these has anything to do with our prophet. But in Ez. 14, 14.20, referred to a conspicuous figure as follows: "Son of man, when, having been treacherously rebelled against me land, I store my arm against it and break your staff of bread, and send on it hunger, and exterminate humans and animals in it, even if they had been there three men, Noah, Daniel and Job, they by their righteousness had saved his life, says the Lord God. " The same is repeated in 14.20, which states better than not save "a son or a daughter, by his own righteousness escape them and save their own lives." Here justice is weighted Daniel, along with Noah and Job, which, however, is not sufficient to obtain grace for the people rebel and convicted and the court of divine justice to the pain of captivity. Here we can not escape the impression that this Daniel is an old character, famous for his justice, as Noah and Job, Ezekiel Later the same again mentioned to Daniel in a speech to the prince of Tyre, which, in their pride, had dared to say: "I am a God, dwell in the house of God, in the heart of the seas." "And you being a man, not God, just like your heart to God's heart, believing you wiser than Daniel, whom no secret is hid" (28.2 s.). Here we are again talking about Daniel as a connoisseur of the divine secrets and, therefore, a great friend of God, but also a longtime favorite character.

The documents found not long ago in Phoenicia is revealed to us some or Danel Daniel, and discussions about their identification with that of Ezekiel. This is not the proper place to discuss the problem, which the learned are not concordant.

And with that we turn to the biblical book of Daniel, where Daniel is spoken of at length, as a character who reveals the secrets of God, as Ezekiel (28.2 s.). This brings us to remember how seudoepigráfica literature of the Old Testament, as in the Apocrypha of the same, the real authors of the books rely on old characters such as Enoch, Moses, Solomon, Ezra, Baruch, etc., Etc. ., who do talk or see them as the real authors of the works. This is a literary device known to all and that therefore no one cheated or deceived.

The book of Daniel is a book full of mysteries, not just divine mysteries, but literary and historical scholars that offer long field study, multiple hypotheses, but until this has come to clear solutions. Among the exhibitors themselves Catholics is given as probable that the book of Daniel is an apocalyptic work and that he would not be here given the old Daniel, whose name would later writer, speaking to the people to instruct on the doctrine of the Law and to encourage him, with the next coming of the Messiah, to suffer persecution for Antiochus IV Epiphanes, king of Syria and the first persecutor of the Jewish religion. There is, therefore, in book two parts, one historical and the other prophetic parenetic first, that we find in Daniel and his companions as many models of fidelity to the law, and the second prophetic visions that Daniel various announces the coming of the Messiah. In the two contains all that we know of the life of Daniel.

In the book of Kings we know two deportations of Judah to Babylon, the one at the beginning of the reign of Jehoiachin, the year 598, and the other at the end of the reign of Zedekiah, in 587, which was the final. But in the same book of Kings that King Joaquim had been subject to Nebuchadnezzar for three years, but then rebelled against him. "Then the Lord commanded troops against Joaquim Chaldean, Syrian, Moabites and Ammonites, and sent them against Judah to destroy, in the words which the Lord had spoken by His servants the prophets" (2 Reg 24.2 et seq.). Here there is talk of deportation, but nothing would wonder that the invasion also accompany the deportation of some parts of the population and with it that of Daniel and his companions.

The historical introduction of the book of Daniel gives us the four young men zealous for the observance of the Law The king wants to increase the staff of his court with some young deportees from Judah. And the palace chief of staff receives order to treat them so that they are good lads. They should be instructed in the Chaldean wisdom, so that nothing is missing to make the court a lucid paper. But young people, born of his love for the law, breaking the divine precepts fear eating things forbidden, and so they pray and get to be let go with vegetables and water. And indeed, with this treatment, may God bless the young men displayed the most lucid of all of your class. With this came a corresponding progress in the arts and sciences in which they were instructed. When the time of its submission to the king, he found them very like it, above all in its class. Certainly God had honored the love of the young men by divine law.

Soon comes the time of the test. The king has a vision, but you forget its contents. Only one thing holds, the fact that this vision should be very important. The monarch makes all the wise men come to court, the priests, whose science was to learn the meaning of dreams. But in this case, as in Pharaoh's Chaldean science, so famous in the ancient world, states powerless to solve the problem presented. The king insists and even threatening, but nothing brings with it. At the end presents Daniel, one of the four young Hebrews, which begins to excuse the ignorance of their peers and admit that the science of prophecy is a gift from God. Then brings to mind the forgotten dream of Nebuchadnezzar, yet declares his respect. It is the dream of the statue, which is consistent with the visions that come after. Appears in all the succession of empires which will appear in the East, the Chaldean, represented by the same Nebuchadnezzar, the Persian, Macedonian and Seleucid or Syrian, strong, it will be the persecutor of the chosen people, but weakened by divisions and wars civilians, that will kill him. Finally will come the kingdom shall not be destroyed and will not other people, but will remain forever. The story ends with two things: the glorification of God by Nebuchadnezzar and the exaltation of Daniel and his companions, and received the prize of his love for the Law

A second episode gives us the crazy claim of the king, who wants to be worshiped in a colossal statue. The sacred author offers us a picture of the arrogance of the king, who eventually surrender to the glory of the God of Israel. In the midst of the vast plain of Dura stands a statue: all subjects of Nebuchadnezzar prostrate before her, only refuse to pay worship Daniel's three companions, who, in prayers of Daniel, the king had set up on the province Babylon (2:49). The refusal will come to constitute a crime of high treason, which is only atoned by death. But then comes the miracle. In the midst of the fire an angel protects the three children and makes clear the power of the true God. Final score: Nebuchadnezzar, once wanted to be worshiped as a god, now surrendered with his entire court to acknowledge the God of Israel, and more: that every man who speaks ill of the God of these young men will be quartered and converted home a dunghill. Result of the episode: the glorification of God by the king and their faithful servants, including Daniel does not appear, but that certainly is hidden in the scene.

A new episode, which appears again as the prophet Daniel, which is the spirit of the holy God. It is the vision of the green tree that is knocked down, but is reborn again, and the punishment of that king, who wanted to be equal with God before whom God struck until he knew his baseness and sovereignty of God.

The long reign of Nebuchadnezzar ended, and will also end the kingdom of Babylon under the rule of a prince named Balthazar. Babylonian chronicle tells how the great city was occupied, without spilling a drop of blood, the Persian army commanded by a general heating. The chronicle does not get into details. But the prophet tells us the sumptuous feast and even sacrilegious Balthazar and his court, and the three mysterious words written on the wall. As before, go Chaldean science to decipher those cryptic words, but you have to admit its impotence. Then presented Daniel, who reveals the secrets of God, and he flatly declares the mystery, that night will be fulfilled, although there is still room for the glorification of Daniel and Daniel of the true God, who reveals her secrets.

The rule changes from the Chaldeans to the Persians and, according to the statement of the prophet, Darius, king of the Medes, which is one of the most difficult problems presented by the book of Daniel. This, in Nebuchadnezzar's empire had occupied a high place in the Chaldean court, became the new rule one of the most senior of the imperial hierarchy. That this has nothing to awaken envy in particular, taking into account, above all, that Daniel was foreign to the dominant race. The mode used to lose is most singular. The enemies of Daniel proposed to King Darius the publication of a decree that prohibits making any request to man or god, out of King Darius. And Daniel just does not respect such a decree, then, as usual, continues to make his prayer to God three times a day. The king is forced to condemn Daniel into the den of lions, which we respect, leading to glorify King Daniel as a servant of God and by a decree ordering that all his kingdom fear the God of Daniel. The accusers of Daniel were thrown into the lions' den and devoured by them.

These prophetic events in the life of Daniel are the four prophetic visions, which reproduces the plan's vision of the statue. With different views give us details the series of Oriental empires from the Seleucid heating, tracker, Antiochus IV, the people of God. In this fourth empire will happen the messianic, not immediately. but God knows the distance.

Such is the summary of the Semitic part of the book of Daniel, which is added an appendix in the Greek language, which tells the intervention of the young Daniel in episode Susan, who saves the innocent and punishes the guilty. Of note is the picture we are offered Joaquim's house, and village life, which enjoys autonomy up to implement the death penalty. With this "Daniel was made famous in the village."

Two more episodes of a different kind come to be a satire against the Chaldean idolatry, like many we read in the prophets of the food presented to the god Bel, Daniel shows were consumed by the priests and their families, death due to drag6n that the Babylonians worshiped as a deity, and Daniel proof that there is no divinity. This brings Daniel audacity, and the other case, be condemned to the lions, of which God's hand book, giving rise to this new glorification of the God of Daniel, whom the king a decree ordering all vassals who fear him as a true savior and wonder-worker on the ground.

The sacred author, rather than the life of Daniel, what is proposed is the glorification of God through the kings of Chaldea and Persia. And this glorification rather than the historical reality of the things that count, gets its strength from the authority of the prophet tells us, which would be an apocalyptic prophet, according to many. Of view on this problem will depend to form the story of the prophet Daniel. Achieve further exegesis to clarify further what this is for us quite dark.

    MUSLIMER

    Halal/Haram

Denne formen for slakting kalles Schente.
