Random question, but do you wrap your earphones around your iPod when you're not using it? Because if you do, the tiny wires inside the cords get fragile and break, which usually results in one or both of them being dead because the electrical current from the device to the earphones can't finish the trip.

Unfortunately if that is the case there is no real fix except to go out and get another pair of earphones. I know there's a brand out there (might be Skullcandy, idk) that actually puts them away in a case that winds them up like a fishing line reel. That way the wires don't break and they last longer. Might be worth looking for those. Also, stop wrapping the phones around the iPod. :)

actually i do have skullcandy and since the cord is long i put in a pocket in my backpack and put the ipod itself in a other pocket and for the headphone i just wrap it in circle but this morning only one side works now.

So you don't wrap the cord itself around anything, you just wind it up? Hmm...you're not leaving it anywhere cold? Say...if you had a breezeway in your house and you leave your coat/backpack out there, but it gets cold overnight out there?

That might have been it too...other than that I'm scratching my head over it

I would say just get a new pair. Once they're broken, you can rarely fix them. =/

The wires are quite slender and damage easily by either stretching or just normal wear and tear. The only thing to do is go buy a new set and expect it happens unfortunately.

You said skullcandies right? Those things are really fragile around the actual headphone bit so it's probably a wire in there thats broke. Just get some new ones is all I can say, maybe something a little cheaper than skullcandies though (those things are a major rip, i've had like two pairs)
